Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of the Horse) Weather Forecast

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has released its weather outlook for regions nationwide during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday of the Year of the Horse, from February 13 to 22, 2026 (corresponding to the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year).

From February 13 to 16 (the 26th to the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month), scattered light rain is expected in some areas. Early mornings will see patchy mist and light fog, with sunshine emerging by late morning and afternoon. In the northeastern region of northern Vietnam, drizzle and scattered fog are forecast during the nights and early mornings of February 13–14 (the 26th–27th day of the twelfth lunar month). Conditions will be cold at night and in the early morning. Daytime highs will range from 23 to 27 degrees Celsius, with some areas in the northwestern region exceeding 28 degrees. Overnight lows will range from 16 to 20 degrees, dropping below 16 degrees in mountainous areas.

From the night of February 16 to February 19 (the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), scattered light rain and showers are forecast, while the northwestern region will experience rain in isolated areas. Cold conditions will persist, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold spells. Daytime temperatures will range from 19 to 23 degrees, with some northwestern locations exceeding 26 degrees. Overnight lows will range from 14 to 17 degrees, falling below 12 degrees in mountainous regions.

From February 20 to 22 (the 4th to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), light rain, drizzle, and patchy fog are expected at night and in the early morning. Cold weather will continue during these periods. Daytime highs will range from 20 to 23 degrees, with slightly higher temperatures in western areas. Overnight lows will range from 16 to 18 degrees, dropping below 15 degrees in mountainous areas.

Area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City

From February 13 to 16 (the 26th to the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month), isolated showers are expected, with patchy mist and light fog in the early morning and sunshine by late morning and afternoon. Conditions will be cold at night and in the early morning. Daytime highs will range from 24 to 26 degrees Celsius, rising to 26–28 degrees in southern areas. Overnight lows will range from 18 to 21 degrees.

From February 17 to 19 (the 1st to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), scattered rain and showers are forecast. Northern areas will experience cold conditions, while southern areas will see cold weather at night and in the early morning. Daytime highs will range from 21 to 24 degrees, and from 18 to 22 degrees in the north. Overnight lows will range from 18 to 20 degrees, dropping to 16–18 degrees in northern areas.

From February 20 to 22 (the 4th to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), isolated showers are expected, with sunshine in the afternoon. Cold conditions will persist at night and in the early morning. Daytime highs will range from 23 to 27 degrees, with overnight lows between 18 and 21 degrees.

South-Central Coastal Region

From February 13 to 22 (the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), sunny days are forecast, with isolated showers at night. In northern parts of the region, from February 17 to 19 (the 1st to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), scattered rain and showers are expected, with thunderstorms in some areas. From February 18 to 20 (the 2nd to the 4th day of the Lunar New Year), northern areas will experience chilly conditions in the early morning and at night. Daytime highs will range from 26 to 31 degrees, falling to 24–26 degrees in northern areas during February 18–20. Overnight lows will range from 21 to 24 degrees.

Central Highlands

From February 13 to 22 (the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), little rain is expected, with sunny days prevailing. Early mornings and nights will be cold. Daytime highs will range from 26 to 30 degrees, with some areas exceeding 30 degrees. Overnight lows will range from 16 to 20 degrees, with some locations dropping below 15 degrees.

Southern Region

From February 13 to 22 (the 26th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), sunny days are forecast, with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and at night. Daytime highs will range from 29 to 33 degrees, exceeding 33 degrees in some areas. Overnight lows will range from 21 to 25 degrees.

Hanoi

From February 13 to 16 (the 26th to the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month), isolated showers are expected, with patchy mist and light fog in the early morning and sunshine by the afternoon. Cold conditions will prevail at night and in the early morning. Daytime highs will range from 24 to 26 degrees, with overnight lows between 18 and 20 degrees.

From the night of February 16 to February 19 (the 29th day of the twelfth lunar month to the 3rd day of the Lunar New Year), scattered rain and light rain are forecast. Cold weather will persist. Daytime highs will range from 18 to 21 degrees, with overnight lows between 14 and 17 degrees.

From February 20 to 22 (the 4th to the 6th day of the Lunar New Year), light rain, drizzle, and patchy fog are expected at night and in the early morning. Cold conditions will continue during these periods. Daytime highs will range from 21 to 23 degrees, with overnight lows between 15 and 17 degrees.
