The construction of the building began in late 2021, with a total investment of USD 25 million provided by the Vietnamese Government as non-refundable aid. The 12-storey building is designed in a modern Khmer architectural style, equipped with a synchronous and convenient infrastructure system. The building will be the working headquarters of the National Assembly Secretariat, specialized committees, and agenda activities, contributing to improving the efficiency of the Cambodian legislature in the new period.

According to the Vietnam News Agency, speaking at the ceremony, Secretary General of the Cambodian National Assembly Leng Peng Long said that the new administrative building is a meaningful gift from the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to the National Assembly and people of Cambodia. This is a symbol of the special, noble, and invaluable friendship between the two neighboring countries. Leng Peng Long affirmed that the project is a clear demonstration of the spirit of sincere cooperation, mutual respect, and constant support between the two nations, built on the principle of respecting independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

Leng Peng Long also called on the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, to cherish and protect the Cambodia-Vietnam solidarity as a sacred asset. “I believe and advise the younger generations to preserve the Cambodia-Vietnam friendship at all costs, considering it a precious asset that needs to be protected and nurtured to bring happiness and development to the two peoples,” he said.
