The program brought together more than 50 overseas Vietnamese from various countries and territories. The delegates visited and were introduced to a series of thematic exhibitions, including “National Achievements on the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2),” “80 Years of Vietnamese Diplomacy,” as well as a display of cultural and artistic works by overseas Vietnamese under the theme “Vietnam Through the Eyes of the Overseas Community” at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.
This occasion offered the overseas Vietnamese community an opportunity to reflect on history, discover lesser-known stories, and share their perspectives on the homeland through painting, photography, and cultural exchange activities.

At the gathering, Vu Thi Huynh Mai, Deputy Chief of Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, emphasized that the Party, the State, and Ho Chi Minh City always regard overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the nation and a valuable resource for its overall development. She highlighted that preserving the Vietnamese language, promoting national culture, and nurturing the identity of the Vietnamese community abroad carry great significance, especially for the younger generation, as they help strengthen enduring ties with their roots.
The event also highlighted the overseas Vietnamese community as a key driver of Ho Chi Minh City’s development. In the second quarter of 2025, remittances to the city reached USD 2.82 billion, up 17% from the previous quarter. The city aims to become a mega-urban center and a hub for economy, industry, and logistics in Southeast Asia, while also striving to build a “livable city” with strong investments in healthcare, education, and the younger generation.

Currently, nearly 3 million overseas Vietnamese have ties with Ho Chi Minh City, accounting for almost 50% of the total Vietnamese diaspora, with over 2.2 million living and working in major global economic and scientific-technology hubs.
A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee affirmed that the city always welcomes contributions from overseas Vietnamese across various fields, from business and investment to scientific research, innovation, and safeguarding maritime sovereignty, emphasizing that overseas Vietnamese serve as an essential bridge for Vietnam’s deeper integration and sustainable development.
The gathering was not only an occasion to reflect on history but also conveyed a message of solidarity, uniting the strength of the global Vietnamese community to join hands in building a strong and prosperous Vietnam in the era of integration.
