On August 21 at 8 p.m., the grand rehearsal of the parade celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) took place at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi.
Although this is only a “trial run,” the scale will be equivalent to the official ceremony, with the participation of all contingents: 4 color guard formations, 43 units representing the People’s Armed Forces (26 military units and 17 police units), along with foreign military contingents - soldiers from Russia, Laos, and Cambodia have already arrived in Hanoi.

Amid the vibrant atmosphere of patriotism and national pride, crowds from across the country are flocking to the heart of the capital to witness the grand parade rehearsal. For those planning a trip “downtown,” careful preparation is essential.
How to Get There, Where to Watch Best
Residents are advised to plan their routes for easier access to the city center.
Those choosing to travel by private vehicles can park at several designated locations, including Vincom Nguyen Chi Thanh, Lotte Center, the Diplomatic Corps apartment complex, Thu Le Park, Thanh CongPark, and the Le Hong Phong Cadre Training School (arranged by the Hanoi People’s Committee to serve attendees of the National Day celebration).
To Avoid Congestion, Use Public Transport
To ease traffic and avoid overcrowding, residents are encouraged to use public transport such as buses and metro lines. Hanoi Metro is currently operating two routes: Cat Linh – Ha Dong and Nhon – Nhon Station.
For the Cat Linh – Ha Dong line: starting from Yen Nghia Station, it is convenient for residents from the former districts of Chuong My, My Duc, Quoc Oai, as well as the former Ha Dong and Thanh Xuan urban areas. The final stop is Cat Linh Station, located near Nguyen Thai Hoc and Kim Ma streets - the main parade route. From here, spectators can walk just a few hundred meters to reach the viewing area.

For the Nhon–Hanoi Station line (currently operating up to Thu Le Park): this line suits residents from the former districts of Ba Vi, Phuc Tho, Dan Phuong, Hoai Duc, and the former Nam Tu Liem and Bac Tu Liem urban areas. A major advantage of this route is the large parking area near Nhon Station, where people can leave their personal vehicles. The final stop is at Thu Le Park, right at the beginning of Kim Ma Street, also very close to the parade zone.
On August 21, 24, 27, and 29, 2025, metro services will operate from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, two hours longer than the regular schedule. Trains will run every 6–10 minutes, with 10-minute intervals applied during the extended hours.
On August 30, 2025, trains will run from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., with a 6-minute frequency during the morning peak hours (5:00–8:00 a.m.) and 10-minute intervals for the rest of the day.
On September 1, 2025, the entire system will operate from 5:30 a.m. to midnight, maintaining a steady 10-minute frequency throughout the day. On National Day, September 2, metro trains will run continuously from midnight to 10:00 p.m.

In addition to the metro, several bus routes heading toward the city center also pass through or stop near the main parade axis on Nguyen Thai Hoc – Kim Ma – Tran Phu – Hoang Dieu, where the parade takes place. These include:
09A (Hoan Kiem Lake – Dien Bien Phu – Kim Ma – Cau Giay – Nguyen Hoang Ton)
22A (Gia Lam Bus Station – Long Bien – Tran Phu – Kim Ma)
E09 (Smart City Urban Area – Thang Long Boulevard – Nguyen Thai Hoc – Hoang Dieu – Quan Thanh – West Lake)
32 (Giap Bat Bus Station – Le Duan – Tran Hung Dao – Kim Ma – Xuan Thuy – Nhon)
BRT (Yen Nghia Bus Station – Le Trong Tan – Le Van Luong – Giang Vo – Kim Ma)
Finding a good spot to watch the parade can be challenging, as sidewalk space is very limited. To secure the best view, plan to arrive at least 5–6 hours early, or even earlier. Some of the top viewing locations include: the Hung Vuong – Nguyen Thai Hoc – Hang Chao intersection, Le Duan – Nguyen Thai Hoc, the Cua Nam six-way junction, Hang Khay – Trang Tien, the Hoan Kiem Lake area, and Quan Ngua Stadium.
Which Roads Should Be Avoided?
