Responding to the call of the Vietnamese Government, the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Club in Australia has called on its members and the Vietnamese community in the country to contribute to the Covid-19 vaccine fund.

From June 8-15, the club collected VND 430 million (US$ 18,705).

The Vietnamese Student Association in Australia has also raised funds worth VND 17.5 million and will continue to appeal for donations from overseas Vietnamese in the time ahead.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Ha Kim Ngoc welcomed Tran Group’s attention towards their home country.

The embassy has collected a total of US$ 55,000 from its officers and employees and the Vietnamese community in the United States to aid the country’s Covid-19 prevention and control.

In addition, many Vietnamese experts and intellectuals in the United States have joined hands with the Vietnamese embassy and representative agencies in seeking the Covid-19 vaccine sources, Ngoc said.

The affection and care of Vietnamese expats in the United States in particular and over the world in general is a great encouragement for the country to soon curb the pandemic and restore the economy.

For more than a year, despite living in the world’s Covid-19 hotspot and encountering many difficulties, the Vietnamese community in the United States has mobilized and kicked off many fund-raising campaigns to support the country.

In particular, when people in the central region were hard-hit by floods last year, overseas Vietnamese in the United States promptly provided relief aid.

Several Vietnamese doctors in California have also volunteered to join the Covid-19 battle at home.

Earlier, the “Unite for Vietnam" program initiated by Vietnamese youth and student associations in the United States mobilized money and items worth US$ 70,000 to help flood-stricken people as well as the country’s Covid-19 prevention and control.

Now, it is continuing to call for contributions for the “10,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for Vietnam” campaign, aiming to collect US$ 50,000 by the end of June.

Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on June 17 handed over VND 6.2 billion to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee to support the Covid-19 vaccine fund and the fight against the pandemic.

The donations were contributed by overseas Vietnamese, the Office of the Lao National Assembly and staff at the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Addressing the ceremony, Son said that Vietnamese communities around the world had always paid attention and were willing to support compatriots at home.
