The program to commemorate the death anniversary of Hung Kings has just been organized by the Association for Overseas Vietnamese in collaboration with the Vietnamese Associations in Osaka and the Kansai region.

No matter where they are living, on this day, Vietnamese people always turn their minds towards the original land of the Hung Kings.

According to the organizing committee, the program was held from April 22-23, attracting more than 1,000 attendees, including expatriates and local people. At the ceremony, the organizing committee performed in a solemn and dignified manner, with rituals imbued with Vietnamese traditional identity. The festival part took place excitingly with music and dance performances, ao dai performances, and folk games.

After the incense offering ceremony and the lion dance, Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, chairman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese and former Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, delivered the opening speech.

Binh said that this event took place after the two countries had overcome the pandemic and successfully recovered, especially, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

He thanked Japan for creating favorable conditions, and helping the Vietnamese community in Japan to develop, becoming one of the largest Vietnamese communities in the world with the population of nearly half a million.

At the same time affirming that the the overseas Vietnamese community is an integral part of the Vietnamese nation, both an important resource for the cause of national construction and defense, and an indispensable factor in the relations, riendship and solid cooperation between the two countries, Binh shared.

The Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony is an opportunity to remind generations of Vietnamese people across five continents of their ancestors, further tightening friendship, cultural exchange, economy, trade, tourism, music, cuisine of the two countries and sharing bonds, creating motivation for the "new normal" after Covid-19.

The program also contributes to fostering the spirit of creativity, entrepreneurship, business activities for socio-economic development of the two countries, towards the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan ties.

Previously, at the hall of the Consulate General of Vietnam, the event "Meet Kansai" took place, attracting a large number of Vietnamese enterprises in Japan and from within the country, along with local enterprises.

According to Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, the nearly 500,000-strong Vietnamese community in Japan made Japan one of the nations with the largest Vietnamese community. Before Covid-19 occurred, Japanese tourists to Vietnam reached approximately 1 million people, while Vietnamese tourists to Japan reached nearly 500,000 people in a year.

The cultural similarities and people-to-people exchanges that began long ago in the two countries' history not only create a feeling of closeness and trust between the two peoples, but also potential and advantages to further develop this intimate relationship, stressed Binh.

After the opening speech of Ambassador Nguyen Phu Binh, vice chairman of the Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese Phan Huu Thang gave a presentation on the investment environment in Vietnam.

Businesses of the two countries expressed their excitement about the economic cooperation between the two countries, and shared many experiences and ideas about business opportunities in Japan and Vietnam.
