The footsteps and resounding shouts were more than just the rhythm of a parade formation - they echoed the proud heartbeat of millions of overseas Vietnamese, deeply moved as they confidently stepped into Ba Dinh Square, where the sacred soul of the nation resides.

Speaking with the VietnamTimes, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem, Doctor of Economics and Vice President of the General Association of Vietnamese in Korea, shared that participating in the block of Overseas Vietnamese in the parade (Block 11) during the 80th anniversary of Independence Day on September 2 was a profound honor and a defining milestone in the life of every overseas Vietnamese.

“This was not only a chance to return to our homeland and immerse ourselves in its sacred atmosphere,” Dr. Liem said, “but also a moment for each of us to express our love for the Fatherland, our national pride, and our sense of responsibility to the community.”

“We deeply feel the care and support of the Party, the State, and our compatriots at home for overseas Vietnamese around the world. Participating in the 80th Independence Day celebration enabled us to listen, share, and contribute our voices and intellect to the collective development of our homeland. The emotion, blended with pride, of being present in the parade is a powerful motivation that drives us to stay united, strive harder, and live up to the trust and affection of our country," he shared.

Dr. Nguyen Thanh Liem said that in the first performance on August 21, the overseas Vietnamese devoted all their energy to a long day from 6 am to 11 pm. However, when they entered Ba Dinh Square at 10 pm, the feeling of fatigue suddenly disappeared, leaving only emotion and pride.

By the second performance on August 24, the overseas Vietnamese were more proficient. They received praises by the teachers and were no longer affected much by the weather.

"During breaks, we interacted and sang with other groups. Music erased distances, connecting people with melodies that harked back to the homeland, the aspirations of youth and the aspirations of building the country. The singing that resounded in the middle of the Hanoi night, at 9 pm, right on the streets of the capital, became beautiful and unforgettable memories in everyone's heart," said Dr. Liem.

Pham Nu Quynh Nhi, Head of the Cultural Department, Vietnam-Japan International Exchange Organization (FAVIJA) - also expressed her honor and pride to join the parade to celebrate National Day on September 2.

She said that these days, Hanoi seems to be wearing a bright red shirt, filled with flags and flowers, bustling with the sound of drums, music, and joyful laughter of thousands of people. Amidst the bustling crowd, she feels more clearly the breath of history, national pride, and deep gratitude to the generations of ancestors who sacrificed to preserve the country.

On the occasion of Independence Day, September 2, Quynh Nhi extends her heartfelt congratulations to her beloved homeland, Vietnam - wishing the Fatherland enduring prosperity, its people warmth and happiness, and the flame of national pride to burn brightly in every Vietnamese heart, wherever they may be in the world.

“As a bridge connecting the overseas Vietnamese community with the homeland, we pledge to continue fostering solidarity, promoting patriotism, and joining hands to build a stronger nation,” she shared. “In response to General Secretary To Lam’s call for a powerful and rising Vietnam in the new era, we are more deeply aware of our responsibility to contribute and help bring the image of Vietnam to the world.”

Meanwhile, Dinh Hoang Ha, a Singaporean, said that during the days of practice to prepare for the parade, everyone was tired, but the national spirit urged everyone to forget everything. The chants and rhythm of the Organizing Committee echoed, gradually becoming an indescribable pride in everyone's heart.

"The moment of entering Ba Dinh Square, right in front of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, was really touching. I remember when gathering from Quan Thanh Street to enter the square, there were times when we were out of step, were reminded, and had to walk again. But thanks to that serious training, on the official day, our ranks were proud, uniform, and loudly saluted under the stands. There are no words to describe the feeling of marching on the important National Day of the Fatherland," Ha shared.

Working in the education sector, Dinh Hoang Ha understands the deeper meaning of the event. "The country is entering a new era. I hope that generations of students will be solid in knowledge and foreign languages, and nurture national pride so that when they step out into the world, they can confidently and proudly say: I am Vietnamese. The country is increasingly innovative and developing in all fields - and that pride will always exist in my heart," he confided.
