According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Luong Cuong and his spouse, accompanied by a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, will attend the high-level General Debate of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, along with bilateral activities in the United States from September 21 to 24.

This occasion not only serves to affirm Vietnam's standing on the international stage but also fosters pride and expectations for stronger connections between overseas Vietnamese in the United States and their homeland.

Speaking to a VNA reporter in Washington, Gary Thanh Nguyen, President of the Business Club and Vietnamese Patriots of the Greater Washington Area (DMV), stated that State President Luong Cuong’s direct participation and speech at the United Nations General Assembly affirms Vietnam’s increasingly prominent position in global affairs. He added that it also reflects Vietnam’s proactive and responsible approach to international issues to which the country contributes.

According to Gary Thanh Nguyen, the bilateral activities of President Luong Cuong in the United States carry clear significance amid the robust development of relations between the two countries.

Following the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, this working trip presents an opportunity to reinforce political trust, broaden substantive cooperation, and lay the groundwork for future progress across multiple sectors.

Gary Thanh Nguyen expressed his hope that President Luong Cuong’s visit will strongly advance collaboration in key areas such as economics, trade, investment, and science and technology, which he believes are essential for Vietnam to achieve breakthroughs in its next stage of development.

He also emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in education and training, healthcare, renewable energy, and climate change, noting that these sectors are directly tied to the well-being of people today and in the future.

He affirmed: “I believe that with the consensus and determination from both Vietnam and the United States, the trip will create practical results, bringing common benefits to both our peoples."

According to Gary Thanh Nguyen, the community of more than 2.5 million Vietnamese people in the United States always looks towards the Fatherland with deep attachment.

He expressed his hope that the President's working trip will open up more mechanisms and favorable policies so that overseas Vietnamese can closely connect with their homeland, especially in investment, business, cultural, and educational exchange activities.

“We also hope that the State will continue to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese, while introducing more policies to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese people living in the United States. With such practical attention and support, the overseas Vietnamese community can serve as a vital element of soft power, promoting Vietnam’s image on the international stage and contributing meaningfully to the deepening of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and the United States,” Gary Thanh Nguyen emphasized, and said that these are the things that overseas Vietnamese are looking forward to during this trip of President Luong Cuong.

In particular, he expressed his joy at the National Assembly's passing of the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Vietnamese Nationality, considering this as “a new chapter” to help overseas Vietnamese to acquire Vietnamese nationality, invest and live in their homeland as “Vietnamese investors”.

“I am happy about this content and want to share with all the residents of Vietnam that we, overseas Vietnamese, have been looking forward to these things for a long time, and also thank the Vietnamese Government for their open view and heart towards the people living abroad to create conditions for them to have Vietnamese nationality”, said Gary Thanh Nguyen.

As one of the overseas Vietnamese in the United States who was honored to attend the 80th Anniversary of Vietnam Independence Day in the Hanoi, Gary Thanh Nguyen expressed his deepest impression of the “solemn and sacred atmosphere held at Ba Dinh Square - where millions of Vietnamese hearts converged and joined in the pride of the nation on a very glorious day of the country”.

“We clearly feel the strength of solidarity, the indomitable will, and the aspiration of the Vietnamese people to rise up in the process of fighting for national liberation and building and developing the country today. This is not only an opportunity to review the heroic history that our ancestors built in the process of fighting for national liberation, but also a reminder for today's generation to always remember and be grateful, preserve and promote the achievements that our ancestors built, so that we can build and develop a strong and prosperous Vietnam,” he emphasized.
