Within the framework of the second Security and Law Enforcement Dialogue, co-chaired by Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung and Acting Assistant Secretary of State Chris Landberg, the relevant agencies of both sides discussed a wide range of issues related to regional security and transnational organized crime. These included maritime security, supply chain security, money laundering, counterterrorism, as well as cooperation in combating narcotics, cybercrime, illegal immigration, human trafficking, and financial crimes.

The two sides also exchanged views on cooperation priorities to strengthen capacity building in law enforcement and criminal justice, as well as mechanisms to expand law enforcement cooperation in addressing the growing challenges of transnational crime, including online scams affecting citizens and businesses in both countries.

In his closing remarks, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung commended the efforts of the agencies of both countries in jointly organizing and effectively implementing the Security and Law Enforcement Dialogue mechanism, as well as successfully convening the second Dialogue in Washington, D.C.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung proposed that in the time ahead, the competent agencies of both countries should continue to maintain regular exchanges on issues of mutual concern and those agreed upon during the Dialogue, to further promote security and law enforcement cooperation commensurate with the framework of the Vietnam–US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

As part of his working visit to the United States from September 4 – 5, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung also held meetings with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the US Department of State, and the Asia Group.

Speaking at the meetings, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highly appreciated the results of cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and US partners in recent years, noting that such achievements have made sectoral cooperation an important component of the overall Vietnam–US bilateral relationship.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung took note of the proposals from the US side and suggested that, in the time ahead, the two sides further strengthen cooperation, enhance information sharing, and effectively address issues of particular concern as well as implement the areas of cooperation already agreed upon.
