| Vietnam’s Multilateral Diplomacy: Eight Decades of Commitment and Global Integration |
In his opening remarks, Ha Hung Cuong, President of the Vietnam Peace and Development Council, emphasized that as the world is undergoing rapid changes, Vietnam’s foreign affairs work needs to continue strong innovation in both thinking and implementation methods. This would help create a favorable international environment for national development and enhance Vietnam’s position on the global stage.
At the seminar, participants focused discussions on several key issues related to strategic orientations for foreign affairs in the new period. In a presentation titled “New thinking and strategic vision on foreign affairs of the 14th National Party Congress,” Dr. Nguyen Hai Luu, Deputy Director General of the Department of Foreign Policy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress calls for continued promotion of the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification of international relations, while proactively and actively integrating more deeply into regional and global cooperation mechanisms.

Sharing international experiences and Vietnam’s integration orientation, Nguyen Dang Quang, a Standing Committee member of the Council, also highlighted the importance of effectively utilizing multilateral cooperation frameworks as well as strengthening coordination among different diplomatic channels to improve the effectiveness of international integration.

The seminar focused on clarifying solutions to effectively implement the foreign policy guidelines set out in the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, particularly in the context of strategic competition and complex fluctuations in the current international situation.
Opinions at the seminar suggested that continuing to renew thinking, improve the quality of international integration, and promote the role of various diplomatic channels would make an important contribution to consolidating a peaceful and stable environment while creating momentum for Vietnam’s sustainable development in the new period.
