Launched in 2022, the She Feeds the World initiative focused on promoting sustainable agricultural practices, improving productivity, and supporting the livelihoods of farmers in Vietnam's Central Highlands.
The program has been implemented effectively with the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment - Partnership for Sustainable Agriculture Vietnam (PSAV), National Agriculture Extension Center (NAEC), CARE, and Community Development Center (CDC) to address the challenges faced by small-scale farmers in Central Highland. By introducing more sustainable farming methods, promoting the Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, the program has significantly increased agricultural yields, provided better access to resources, and created new market opportunities.
Through education and skill-building, the initiative has equipped local farmers with the tools they need to enhance productivity while preserving the environment. The initiative has also brought in diverse PPP stakeholders to discuss, share and replicate successful models that promote sustainable agriculture, technology adoption and market linkage in Vietnam.

In Vietnam as of April 2025, She Feeds the World has made a significant impact, reaching over 8,000 individuals and supporting them in adopting more sustainable agricultural practices, gaining greater access and control over productive resources, and improving market access.
The program has transformed farming practices through impactful innovations such as the adoption of soil health tracking technology, water-efficient drip irrigation systems and improved fertilization strategies utilizing organic fertilizers.
These changes have resulted in a 20% increase in productivity, a 30% reduction in chemical fertilizer use, and a 20% decrease in water consumption. In addition, the program has successfully facilitated contract farming agreements with PepsiCo Foods Vietnam, covering nearly 100 hectares of land dedicated to potato cultivation. Central to these efforts is the empowerment of women farmers, who have been actively engaged across all interventions.
The program also facilitated national research and annual PSAV events on technology adoption, climate resilience and emission reduction practices in the vegetable and fruit sector. The program also took advantage of the community agriculture extension networks to effectively provide practical training, experience sharing and handbook development on various value chain models for duplicating nationwide.

Le Quoc Thanh, NAEC Director, shared that throughthis program, they have not only increased production but also helped farmers access more profitable markets and enhance their incomes, leading to better food security and a brighter future for local families. The program also supports strengthening PPP to effectively develop agriculture advanced linkage model.
"The She Feeds the World program has been a game-changer for the farmers of Dak Lak. Not only have we seen a marked increase in agricultural output, but the community’s resilience and ability to adapt to sustainable farming practices has been strengthened," said Bach Thanh Tuan, Director at CDC Dak Lak. "This initiative has empowered local farmers, particularly women, and given them the tools to improve their livelihoods for the long term.
As a result of the program, farmers have seen a notable improvement in their income, thanks to better crop yields, access to markets, and new farming techniques. A standout achievement of the program was its focus on supporting women farmers, with over 60% of participants being women. This initiative helped them take more control of their agricultural businesses.
Since 2019, the PepsiCo Foundation has partnered with CARE, a global poverty-fighting organization, on the She Feeds the World program. The USD 18.2 million multi-year initiative was launched in eight countries (Vietnam, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Peru, Colombia, Egypt and Uganda) to help transform the livelihoods of women farmers and their communities around the world. The program provides local support to help them build their skills and confidence in sustainable agriculture practices, market engagement, and food and nutrition security to help increase their yields and ultimately increase their income.
