Both the Senate and Chamber of Deputies leaders emphasized the significance of the visit as the two countries celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1950-2025) and the establishment of the Strategic Partnership framework in January 2025. They affirmed that the Czech Republic always values strengthening ties with Vietnam - an important partner and a potential market for the Czech Republic in Southeast Asia. The Czech parliamentary leaders acknowledged the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, highlighting their diligence and hard work, noting that they are loved by Czech citizens and considered an integral part of Czech society.

Expressing her pleasure and gratitude for the warm and respectful welcome, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh affirmed that Vietnam always values and seeks to enhance its traditional friendship with the Czech Republic - one of Vietnam’s priority partners in Central and Eastern Europe. She stressed that the Vietnamese people always remember the valuable support and assistance of the Czech people during the struggle for independence as well as in nation-building and development.

Both sides highly valued the strong growth in bilateral trade, which exceeded USD 2 billion in 2024, up 78% compared to 2023. They also noted that more and more Czech enterprises are interested in expanding investment and business in Vietnam, with a notable example being Skoda Group’s automobile manufacturing plant project. The two sides affirmed that with the openness of their economies, there remains great potential for cooperation in renewable energy, machinery manufacturing, supporting industries, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, high technology, and other areas.

The two sides discussed concrete measures to effectively implement the Vietnam-Czech Strategic Partnership framework, fully leveraging existing cooperation mechanisms such as the Vietnam-Czech Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation. They also agreed to boost collaboration in politics and diplomacy, labor, education and training, security and defense, people-to-people exchanges, parliamentary cooperation, and to work towards launching direct flights between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her thanks and hopes that Czech authorities at all levels will continue to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to integrate more deeply into local society. She requested that the Czech Republic increase its quota for accepting Vietnamese workers. In addition, she informed that as of August 15, 2025, Vietnam would offer visa exemptions of up to 45 days for Czech tourists, and requested that the Czech Republic facilitate the visa issuance process for Vietnamese citizens traveling to the Czech Republic.

Responding to her proposals, the Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies affirmed his strong support for expediting the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and for urging the European Commission to remove the IUU Yellow Card on Vietnamese seafood exports.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the Vice Chairwoman proposed that both sides strengthen exchanges of National Assembly leadership, committees, and friendship parliamentary groups to share experiences in legislation and oversight, and coordinate support for each other in multilateral parliamentary forums. She welcomed the Czech Senate President’s plan to visit Vietnam at the end of 2025 and extended an invitation to the Chamber of Deputies leadership to visit Vietnam at a convenient time.

On the afternoon of September 18, immediately upon arriving in Prague, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh’s delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy, met with embassy staff and representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, and attended a ceremony presenting Party membership badges to overseas Vietnamese Party members, organized by the Party Committee in the Czech Republic.

She expressed her pride in the continuous growth of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and reaffirmed that the Party, State, and National Assembly of Vietnam always consider overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc. She voiced her confidence that with their tradition of solidarity and connection, the community will continue to grow and affirm Vietnam’s image, position, and role in the Czech Republic.
