The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association have been closely monitoring recent developments related to the Executive Order signed by the President of the US on January 29, 2026, authorizing the application of tariff measures against countries supplying oil to Cuba, as well as the Official Statement of the Government of Cuba dated January 30, 2026 on this matter.

We express our deep concern over the impacts that the above-mentioned Executive Order may have on Cuba’s socio-economic situation, particularly in the energy sector and the daily lives of the people. We believe that ensuring basic conditions for people’s livelihoods, including energy security, is a humanitarian issue that deserves the attention and responsible handling of the international community.

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association share and express solidarity with the Cuban people during this difficult period, affirming the commitment to continue accompanying the Cuban people through people-to-people exchanges, humanitarian cooperation, the sharing of development experience, and the strengthening of connections among social organizations, businesses, and localities of the two countries. We place our trust in the will, resilience, and unity of the Cuban people in overcoming difficulties and continuing to build a peaceful, stable, and developing nation.

We highly appreciate the consistent position of the Government of Cuba in affirming its readiness to maintain dialogue with relevant parties. Together with peace-loving peoples around the world, we believe that force or embargoes cannot resolve differences between nations. All differences should be settled through peaceful dialogue, on the basis of mutual respect and in accordance with international law. Dialogue and cooperation are pathways to easing tensions, building trust, and delivering tangible benefits to the people.

The Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association call on the US to immediately lift unilateral blockade and embargo measures against Cuba and to take steps toward dialogue and improved relations with Cuba; and the international community to continue paying attention to and promoting constructive cooperative initiatives for the common interests of the people and for a world of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
