At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau highly appreciated MEXT’s contributions to strengthening cooperation with Vietnam in recent years, particularly in education and training, scientific research, innovation, and human resource development.
He noted that Vietnam is prioritizing the development of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and green transformation to drive rapid and sustainable growth in the new development phase. In this context, improving the quality of human resources has been identified as a key task in achieving the country’s development goals.
Discussing future cooperation priorities, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed that Japan continue supporting Vietnam in training high-quality talent in strategic technology sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), high technology, digital transformation, and quantum technology. He also called for the early implementation of the Japan Development Scholarship (JDS) Project and the Japan-ASEAN Network for Exchange of Students and Youths (NEXUS) program on science, technology, and innovation.

For his part, Minister Matsumoto Yohei reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to its partnership with Vietnam and expressed Japan’s desire to continue supporting Vietnam in enhancing its technological self-reliance, particularly in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, space technology, and other advanced industries.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination in implementing agreements reached by the two countries’ senior leaders, contributing to the increasingly substantive and effective development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Cooperation in science and technology and the development of high-quality human resources will continue to serve as key pillars of the bilateral relationship.
