Daily Covid-19 infections fall to two-month low of more than 28,000

Vietnam registered more than 28,000 new coronavirus infections on April 10, a record low in the past two months.

Official data from the Ministry of Health show that 28,307 infections were recorded in 62 cities and provinces across the country, a fall of nearly 6,000 cases compared to the previous day.

All the fresh infections were locally acquired, including 20,635 cases diagnosed in the community, or 73% of the total caseload.

Daily Covid-19 cases have nosedived considerably over the past month, and experts all agree that the outbreak has passed its peak and is on the downward trajectory in Vietnam.

Localities have gradually resumed the majority of services for the past weeks, showing they have flexibly adapted themselves to the government-adopted strategy of living safely with Covid-19, cited VOV.

As of 06pm on April 10, Vietnam has documented nearly 10.2 million infections, ranking 12th out of 227 countries and territories worldwide.

Of the total, more than 8.5 million patients have recovered, and nearly 43,000 patients have died of the virus and underlying illnesses.

As many as 208.5 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered nationwide.

Vietnam is set to vaccinate children aged 5 to 11 this April, using the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine approved by the Ministry of Health.

The ministry is scheduled to receive approximately 7 million doses of the vaccine donated by the Australian Government this month.

At the 30th SEA Games in 2019, the Vietnamese sports delegation finished second in the overall medal tally, with 98 golds, 85 silvers and 105 bronzes, just behind the host Philippines.

Central localities join hands to strengthen regional tourism connectivity

The three central provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh have joined hands to strengthen regional tourism connectivity and develop new tourism products that link tourist attractions of the three localities in order to attract more visitors, thus fostering the recovery of their hospitality sector.

The three neighboring provinces are home to various forms of terrain including mountains, midlands, plains as well as many magnificent caves, waterfalls and sun-drenched beaches, such as Sam Son and Hai Tien (Thanh Hoa Province); Quynh Nghia, Cua Hoi, and Cua Lo (Nghe An Province); and Thien Cam, Xuan Thanh, and Loc Ha (Ha Tinh Province).

The localities are also blessed with beautiful natural landscapes which facilitate the development of community-based eco-tourism, including Pu Luong Nature Reserve and Ben En National Park in Thanh Hoa Province; the villages of Nua, Xieng, Co Muong, and Hoa Tien in Nghe An Province; and Vu Quang National Park, Son Kim Hot Mineral Water Ecological Area, and Ke Go Lake in Ha Tinh Province).

In addition, the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh are the confluence of several historical and cultural sites such as Ho Dynasty Citadel, the Lam Kinh and Truong Bon historical sites, the monument commemorating great poet Nguyen Du, and the Dong Loc T-junction relic area, not to mention the diversity of local festivals, folk songs and dances, and superb indigenous cuisines.

These abundant potentials and advantages of the three provinces have created firm foundation for them to promote cooperation and connectivity in developing cultural, historical and spiritual tourism, community-based tourism, and eco-tourism.

In addition, the operation of Tho Xuan Airport in Thanh Hoa and Vinh International Airport in Nghe An, which offer many air routes to major tourist centers across country, have created favorable conditions for the three provinces to penetrate the tourist market and enhance the visitor's travel experience.

The three localities recently co-hosted a tourism conference in Hanoi under the theme ‘Three localities - One destination with many experiences’. Speaking at the event, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Department of Tourism Nguyen Manh Cuong said that at a time when Vietnam has officially reopened full tourism activities, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh are ready to serve domestic and international tourists, promoting their image as safe, friendly, and attractive destinations.

Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Ha Tinh Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Tran Sang shared that the three localities aim to welcome holiday-makers from Hanoi, the northeast and northwest regions, as well as the Mekong Delta.

The three provinces have worked to enhance their tourism linkages through the launching of tours connecting beautiful local beaches and cultural sites, as well as tours that offer both community-based tourism and adventurous experiences, NDO reported.

For her part, Deputy Director of the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Thi Hai Yen, stated that each destination in the provinces has its own characteristics and offers unique experiences for visitors.

Each province has plans to launch dozens of events and attractive stimulus programs to serve the strong travel demand in the upcoming summer season.
