Vietnam Showcases Traditional Attire at International Cultural Exchange Program

The International Cultural Exchange Program - Performance of Costumes and Intangible Cultural Heritage of China and Foreign Countries took place in Beijing (China) on September 7. The event was part of China International Fashion Week - Autumn 2025, held from September 5 to 14.

Spreading Patriotism through the “Vietnam Traditional Attire Pedestrian” Event in Europe

The event gathered more than 500 delegates, including ambassadors and representatives of ASEAN embassies such as Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Singapore, along with leaders from the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, the China International Publishing Group, the Orchid Awards Secretariat, representatives from the provinces of Yunnan, Shaanxi, Hainan, and Henan, as well as numerous representatives from fashion enterprises, cultural companies, media organizations, and bloggers.

In his opening remarks, Yu Yingfu, Deputy Director-General of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, stated that costumes are “living fossils” of civilizations, embodying the cultural identity of nations, and are a shared heritage of all humanity.

This cultural exchange program used costumes and intangible cultural heritage as its central theme to revive traditional identities through cultural creativity, transforming intangible values into the language of modern fashion, integrating them into the global flow.

The performances of costumes and intangible cultural heritage from five localities in China - Luoyang, Hanzhong, Wuzhishan, Dali, and Shouxiong - portrayed the history, culture, daily life, production activities, and landscapes of various ethnic groups and regions.

Meanwhile, the costume presentations of eight countries - Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Thailand - offered a visual feast showcasing the diversity of costumes and intangible cultural heritage from different cultures.

This cultural exchange program not only fostered mutual learning and interaction among cultures but also helped international friends gain a deeper understanding of the richness and diversity of Chinese culture as well as that of ASEAN countries.
