The exhibition is jointly organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, Thailand; the Vietnam Fine Arts and Cultural Diplomacy Promotion Committee; the National University of Art Education; and Khon Kaen University.
The exhibition is one of the notable cultural and artistic activities held as part of a series of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Thailand (August 6, 1976 - August 6, 2026). The painting exhibition contributes to bringing the images of the countries and people of Vietnam and Thailand closer to the public in both countries.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Consul General Dinh Hoang Linh emphasized that the 50-year journey of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations marks an important historical milestone. It has been nurtured by the bonds between the two peoples, illuminated by the noble spirit of friendship of President Ho Chi Minh, and preserved and strengthened through the sincere sentiments and enduring efforts of the Vietnamese community in Thailand.

Throughout this half-century journey, culture has always served as a special bridge, helping bring together and spread positive values, connect people, and promote humanitarian values, solidarity, and friendship between the two peoples. The exhibition adds another event that vividly demonstrates the connecting role of cultural diplomacy.
Notably, the exhibition features numerous paintings created during exchanges between the artists, capturing memories of friendship among Vietnamese artists as they worked and exchanged artistic experiences with their Thai counterparts, as well as their journeys exploring the landscapes, people, and life of the Land of Smiles.
At the event, Khon Kaen University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Vietnam Fine Arts and Cultural Diplomacy Promotion Committee and the National University of Art Education. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation on artistic initiatives, exchanges, educational and training experiences, and joint artistic creation among artists from the two countries in the years ahead.

Fifty years is a proud chapter and also a milestone opening the way for new decades in bilateral relations. The Vietnam-Thailand Painting Exhibition is a meaningful event that contributes to building a solid foundation for future cooperation, creating more opportunities for artists from the two countries to interact and create together, and to continue writing the story of Vietnam-Thailand friendship through the unique language of art.
A meeting was held in Tuyen Quang on August 13 to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Thailand diplomatic relations (August 6, 1976 - August 6, 2026). At the event, Senior Lieutenant General and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Thanh, President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam-Thailand Friendship Association, proposed linking people-to-people friendship activities with the “Three Connections” strategy covering supply chains, businesses and localities, and sustainable development. He also suggested areas of cooperation with Thailand that align with the province’s strengths. |
