During her meeting with Juan Castillo, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay and Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet cordially invited a delegation from the ruling coalition Broad Front and the Communist Party of Uruguay to visit Vietnam and attend celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Juan Castillo expressed deep admiration for the significance and timeless value of the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, which marked a historic turning point and ushered in an era of independence for the Vietnamese people. He also highly praised Vietnam's achievements over the past 80 years, particularly its remarkable political, economic, and social progress over more than 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi (Renewal) policy.

Both sides affirmed their determination to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Uruguay, as well as the left-wing Broad Front, to contribute positively to the development of bilateral relations.

At the meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csukasi, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet emphasized the desire for both countries to increase delegation exchanges and work closely together at international and regional forums such as the United Nations, the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), ASEAN, and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The Ambassador particularly proposed the early initiation of negotiations on a trade agreement between Vietnam and MERCOSUR to establish a solid legal framework for bilateral economic cooperation.

Deputy Minister Valeria Csukasi stated that she would pay an official visit to Vietnam in mid-August and participate in the fifth Political Consultation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs, aimed at enhancing effective cooperation across various fields.

In addition to official meetings, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet also took part in and delivered remarks at an advanced political theory course organized by the Communist Party of Uruguay. In her speech, the Ambassador provided an in-depth overview of Vietnam’s socio-economic development achievements and its foreign policy during the Doi Moi (Renewal) period. The participants, including a large number of young party members, expressed great interest in Vietnam’s socialist-oriented market economy model and raised many questions to gain a deeper understanding of the country’s reform path.

On this occasion, the Ambassador also surveyed the progress of the construction of the "Vietnam Space" on Jose Pedro Varela Avenue in the capital Montevideo - a symbolic project located in front of the Antel Arena National Convention Center. The Montevideo city government hopes that this space will serve as a cultural link, enabling the Uruguayan people and international friends to remember President Ho Chi Minh - the great leader of the Vietnamese people. During his journey in search of national salvation in 1912, President Ho Chi Minh set foot in this South American country, leaving a profound legacy in the friendship between the two peoples.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet’s working visit not only contributed to strengthening the political relationship between the two Parties and two States but also opened up promising avenues for substantive cooperation in diplomacy, economics, culture, and trade between Vietnam and Uruguay in the near future.
