Vietnamese “Blue Beret” Doctors Marks Their Special Day in South Sudan

In Bentiu (South Sudan), while working on their missions in the UN peacekeeping operations, the officials and staff members of Vietnam’s Level 2 Field Hospital Rotation 4 recently conducted a civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) activity to mark the 68th Vietnamese Doctors’ Day (February 27/1955-February 27/2023),

To celebrate the special day of Vietnamese healthwokers, officials and staff members of Vietnam’s Level 2 Field Hospital Rotation 4 of the UN Mission operated a meaningful event for the local hospital of Bentiu (South Sudan). They has conducted a civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) activity, in which they gave a careful examination, giving advice and providing urgent care and medication to patients of Bentiu General Hospital.

According to the leader of the Level 2 Field Hospital Rotation 4 of the UN Mission, the number of patients coming to the clinic exceeded the expectations. However, the officials and staff members were well prepared.

The volunteer team led by Major Le Viet Anh - Deputy Director of Professional Affairs presented Bentiu General Hospital with essential medicines and sanitary solutions. Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hang Nga - Deputy Military Director was in charged of directing activities to support and give gifts to local people and children.

The director of Bentiu General Hospital expressed his gratitude to the kind and generous gestures of the Vietnamese doctors. He wished hospital's medical staff as well as the whole country of Vietnam on the occasion of Vietnamese Doctors’ Day. He hopes that, for the wellbeing of the local residents, more practical voluntary works will be carried out in the coming time.

Vietnam actively participates in UN's peacekeeping operations for maintaining international peace and security.

In the annual session of the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (also known as the C34), Minister Counsellor Nguyen Hoang Nguyen, deputy head of the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to the UN, stressed that Vietnam backs the UN’s efforts to develop a global partnership on peacekeeping and enhance cooperation with regional organisations, including the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Vietnam iss one of the four Southeast Asian countries with a UN-recognized international training centre for implementing the Triangular Partnership Programme (the UN, Vietnam, Japan). Since 2014, Vietnam has sent more than 520 military and police officers and soldiers to the UN missions in the Central African Republic, South Sudan and the Abyei Area, and to the UN headquarters, cited from VNA.
