Nguyen Chi Thanh High School for the Gifted (Nam Gia Nghia Ward, Lam Dong Province) has recently received good news as Nguyen Quang Bao was awarded a scholarship to study at the University of Connecticut (UConn), one of the leading public research universities in the United States. Behind this achievement lies a journey marked by years of discipline, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to personal growth.

Quang Bao’s distinction extends beyond his outstanding academic performance to his well-rounded development. He achieved an SAT score of 1530, an IELTS score of 7.0, and maintained a GPA above 9.3 throughout his three years of high school. He won a Gold Medal at the SIMSO National Math Olympiad, a Silver Medal at the FMO International Math Olympiad, and a Silver Medal at the National Violympic Mathematics Competition. In 2025, he also earned an International Gold Medal at the Moscow International Salon of Inventions for his project on the application of Machine Learning and data analysis.

In addition, he received a Consolation Prize at the 2024 National Youth and Children Creativity Competition, a Third Prize at the Provincial Science and Engineering Competition, and a Second Prize at the Provincial Youth Creativity Competition. He was also recognized as an Outstanding Provincial Student and maintained the title of Excellent Student throughout all three years of high school.

According to Quang Bao, the most important factors behind these achievements are effective time management and maintaining discipline in pursuing one’s goals.

“I participate in quite a number of competitions, so I have to clearly determine which ones are most important at different points in time. I usually prioritize the nearest competition or the one with the greatest significance, focus on improving areas where my knowledge is still weak, and then move on to broader and more advanced content. In class, I make every effort to thoroughly understand the theory and complete all assignments. For areas that require deeper research, I proactively seek additional materials and ask my teachers for guidance and support,” Bao shared.

Beyond his academic diligence, Quang Bao is actively involved in collective activities, scientific research, and youth initiatives. His proactiveness, discipline, and strong sense of responsibility have earned him the affection and respect of both his peers and teachers.
