Chairwoman of the Union of Vietnamese Women’s Association in Europe Nguyen Viet Trieu said that 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam - a sacred milestone in the nation’s history. To honor the contributions of generations who built and defended the country, and to inspire national pride among overseas Vietnamese communities, the Union initiated, organized, and sponsored this special cultural community program.
As a pioneering organization, the Union not only organizes the events but also connects dozens of associations, businesses, and Vietnamese communities across various countries, turning the Vietnamese Attire Walk Across Europe into a shared journey for overseas Vietnamese across the continent.

The events will take place simultaneously in multiple major cities, gathering thousands of Vietnamese in the traditional ao dai and regional costumes from the three regions of Vietnam. Highlights include ao dai and ethnic costume parades, folk performances, cultural exchanges with international friends, and intergenerational connections among overseas Vietnamese.
The program will begin with a formation of Vietnam’s map on August 19 in Warsaw, Poland, marking the anniversary of the August Revolution. The striking image of the red flag with a yellow star alongside the country’s outline in the square will recreate the heroic atmosphere of that historic autumn, evoking the moment when the Vietnamese people seized power, ushering in an era of independence and freedom.

The journey will continue in Bratislava, Slovakia, on August 24 with lion dances and a parade in traditional costumes. On August 29, in Liberec (Czech Republic) and Kosice (Slovakia), parades will pass through European landmarks rich in historical value. The program will conclude on August 31, with Utrecht (Netherlands), Vienna (Austria), and Brno (Czech Republic) simultaneously showcasing Vietnamese cultural identity in the heart of Europe, while in London (UK), a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the site where President Ho Chi Minh once worked in 1913.
The program is supported by Vietnamese associations, women’s unions, business groups, and student organizations from multiple countries, joining hands to spread the message: “Radiant Vietnamese Attire - Vietnamese Spirit Reaching Far.” This message affirms that no matter where they are in the world, the love for their homeland and Vietnamese identity is preserved and shines brightly.

Commemorating the 80th National Day is not only an occasion to express gratitude and pride for the nation’s glorious history, but also a reminder to every Vietnamese - whether at home or abroad - to carry in their hearts the pride, resilience, and eternal love for their homeland. With its leading role, the Union of Vietnamese Women’s Association in Europe continues to strengthen community bonds, serving as a solid bridge between the homeland and overseas compatriots, and contributing to enhancing Vietnam’s image on the international stage.
