On the occasion of the death anniversary of Vietnam's eminent educator Chu Van An (1292-1370), attendees of "Bach Hoa Bo Hanh" pay respect to him at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi.

On the evening of December 18, at the main hall of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the final night of "Bach Khoa Khanh Hoi 2022" took place, attracting hundreds of students wearing unique antique costumes.

The festival was organized by the Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Hanoi National University), the VIC Culture and History Club, VUMCC Media Club, on the basis of developing the results of the author group of the event "Bach Hoa Bo Hanh" (Summer 2022).

Although efforts have been made in terms of the research and restoration of Vietnamese traditional and ancient costumes for a long time, it wasn’t until recent years that the costumes gained increased appreciation from the public, particularly among young people. With enthusiasm and love for antique costumes, many groups and brands are bringing these designs back to life with fresh and modern breath.

In the summer of 2022, the parade "Bach Hoa Bo Hanh" (A Stroll of Hundreds of Flowers) was held for the first time on an unprecedented scale in Hanoi. This is an event that brings together many research units and ancient clothing brands with the participation of about 100 historical interest individuals wearing restored ancient costumes of Vietnam and walking around the Hoan Kiem Lake area.

Since 2014, online communities, forums and groups on Vietnamese customs, culture, and costumes have been established, attracted numerous members, mostly young people.

It is a special festival for those who are passionate about Vietnamese cultural values, especially its feudal costumes.

Following its success, the organizing committee decided to develop and hold the gather into an even larger event in order to honor and continue to promote the active participation of young people in promoting and spreading Vietnamese cultural values to the domestic community and international friends.

This time, the festival began with a parade from the Van Mieu Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) to the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities by the Cat Linh-Ha Dong electric train.

Attendee wore traditional Vietnamese costumes through various historical periods such as the Ao dai (traditional long dress), Ao dai ngu than (five-flap long dress), Giao Linh costume (cross-collared robe), Vien Linh (round-collared dress) and Nhat Binh costume (square-collared garb) as well as accessories such as hats, shoes, and fans in gorgeous, eye-catching colours and styles.

The wearing of costumes has even become a prominent fashion trend in 2020 and is predicted to be further promoted in the coming years.

Attendees from all walk of life worn ancient clothes and participated in a festival and its parade to promote and introduce restored Vietnamese feudal costumes.

The gathering also aims to share and introduce the achievements of typical individuals and organizations in traditional costumes; jointly honor and demonstrate quality or popular antique products of the antique community in and out of the North region; contribute to promoting and bringing Vietnamese antiques closer to the public through the parade.

At the university, seminars on issues related to the modern application of ancient costumes and activities to preserve and promote the beauty of traditional culture also have been hosted.

Research units and ancient clothing brands also presented to provide cultural experience and traditional costumes try-on for anyone who have an interest in Vietnamese traditional culture.

The promotion of ancient costumes in modern life not only helps Vietnamese people have a deeper understanding of traditional patterns and motifs but also contributes to preserving and upholding a number of traditional craft villages.

In the series of events of "Bach Hoa Khanh Hoi", besides interesting performances, the gala night has also found the ambassadors of University of Social Sciences and Humanities who would have duties to promote traditional culture.

Bach Hoa Bo Hanh (Summer 2022) won an award in the category of Initiatives, ideas and products with external information value at the National External Information Service Awards 2022.

The award organizers highly appreciates the active participation of young people in promoting, introducing and spreading Vietnamese cultural values to the community, domestically and internationally.
