From a small lab to big dreams, Nguyễn Thị Khánh Diệu embodies the spirit of young Vietnamese—constantly recharging, relentlessly passionate, and striving to become the “Number 1” version of herself.

Nguyen Thi Khanh Dieu, a student at the School of Engineering, Phenikaa University, is doing more than presenting technology—she’s telling the story of Vietnamese youth: brave enough to take unexpected turns, bold enough to dream, and steadfast in pursuing passion to become the "Number 1 version of herself."

From Notebooks to Circuit Boards

Born in Ha Tinh, Dieu spent three years preparing for the A1 university entrance block but also scored top marks in the D block at Ly Tu Trong High School, eventually being accepted into the Banking and Finance program at Foreign Trade University with nearly 28 points. It seemed like her path was set: stable, conventional, and “suitable for a girl.”

But life had other plans—ones more daring and brilliant. After receiving a full scholarship from Phenikaa University, Dieu made a sharp turn into Electrical and Electronics Engineering. She stepped into a world of components, circuits, and electromagnetic waves—things she had never touched before.

The first year hit hard. She practically had to start over, learning about electromagnetics, circuit simulation, programming... But instead of giving up, she chose to fuel her drive, keep her passion alive, and push forward every day—embodying the spirit of youth that’s persistent and unyielding.

Each night, long after the lab lights had gone out, Dieu stayed at her desk, wrestling with lines of code and antenna simulations that failed dozens of times, just to figure out why the radiation wasn’t up to standard.

Whenever things got tough, she’d reach for a bottle of Number 1, pop the cap, take a sip, and find her clarity again.

“The bold, explosive flavor of Number 1 gives me instant energy, helps me focus, and reignites my determination,” Dieu says with a smile. “I’d tell myself: ‘Just a little more.’ And then I’d go back to the desk and run the next simulation.”

From those sleepless nights, Dieu realized the most valuable thing wasn't the outcome—it was the feeling of growing stronger and more resilient each day with the passion she chose. And she always had Number 1 by her side to push past limits that once seemed impossible, becoming a better version of herself.

Dieu’s journey into antenna design—once seen as the domain of telecom engineers—led her down a surprisingly humanistic path: applying antennas in medical devices and healthcare solutions.

To her, antennas are "the bridge between technology and human life." A tiny antenna embedded in a heart-monitoring patch, or a sensor transmitting signals to a remote health center—these are the moments when hard tech gains a soul.

“Technology only truly matters when it serves people,” she says. “Each antenna or biomedical sensor I simulate isn’t just technical work to me—it’s a small step toward a safer life.”

Late at night in the lab, with nothing but the glow of a computer screen and the hum of a cooling fan, Dieu cracks open a bottle of Number 1. The crisp pop fills the room with a burst of energy. One sip is enough to awaken the fire inside her.

“In moments when I feel I’ve hit my limit, Number 1 helps me refocus and recharge. It’s taught me how to stand strong under pressure, not to collapse, and to keep pushing through challenges with resilience and fire,” she says with a quiet smile.

Fueled by that mindset, Dieu has already racked up an impressive list of achievements:
