A Morning Inside the Mechanical Workshop

The sharp sound of cutting tools mixes with the scent of heated metal. In one corner of the workshop, Trần Thị Kiều My, a student from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, is carefully grinding a block of steel.

Sweat rolls down her face, the heat rises around her, but her eyes shine with determination. Amid the clang of metal, My is like a small flame — steady and bright in a workshop filled mostly with men.

A few kilometers away, in the lab at the University of Information Technology, Trần Thị Cẩm Giang still hasn’t left her screen even though it’s long past midnight. The blue glow highlights her tired face as her code gets stuck in an endless loop.

The Number 1 Girls: When Passion Is Fueled, Limits Become Only the Starting Point
For young people like My, when passion is "recharged" with Number 1, limits are just the starting point to conquer dreams.

Two girls. Two worlds that seem unrelated — yet both share one thing: they don’t stop. They refresh themselves with Number 1, then keep moving forward.

When Challenges Become a Furnace for Passion

At the university, My is one of the few female students in Mechanical Engineering. Some practice days, she has to carry materials twice her weight. Her hands burn, her shoulders ache, and there were moments she wondered if she was strong enough to continue.

“I thought I hit my limit and couldn’t go any further,” My recalled. “But after one sip of Number 1, it felt like my body woke up. The energy came back, and I stood up again, ready to finish every detail with renewed passion.”

Sweat dripped again, sparks glowed again. My realized that even exhaustion could be “recycled” into strength — as long as she had enough passion and energy.

For Giang, every bug was a mental challenge. “Sometimes I spent the whole night stuck on one line of code. My eyes burned, and my head felt like a tightened string,” she said.

Tran Thi Kieu My received the 2025 Vietnam Science and Technology Female Student Award from the Organizing Committee and representative of Number 1 brand.

“I grabbed a bottle of Number 1, took a sip. The strong, icy flavor hit my throat and instantly refreshed me. I looked back at the screen and somehow the code felt less overwhelming.”

From that moment, she began to love even the errors — because after every “crash,” she became stronger.

When Steel Blocks and Lines of Code Begin to Shine

In her first practical assignment, each student was given a raw steel block and instructed to shape it into a fully functional wrench. My spent nearly a month completing it.

Some nights, she stayed alone in the workshop with nothing but the hum of machines and the yellow glow of overhead lights. On the table beside her was a bottle of Number 1 — fueling a long but determined night.

“When I held the first wrench I ever made, my hands were shaking,” My said. “In that moment, I knew I had overcome my first real limit.”

From those early challenges, she kept rising: a 3.6 GPA, Third Prize in the Mechanics Olympiad, three international publications, and a PhD scholarship at Hanyang University (South Korea).

Meanwhile, Giang immersed herself in the digital world. Her project, “Logical Layout Analysis on Signboards and Posters,” aims to support visually impaired individuals and autonomous vehicles. After three rejections and more than a year of revisions, she finally received an acceptance letter to present at ICDAR 2025 (Rank A). She burst into tears right at her desk.

“I still remember that night — after finishing my work, I looked at the open bottle of Number 1 on the table,” Giang said. “I smiled. Some dreams really can fly far, as long as you keep fueling them.”

Meeting at the Peak and Lighting the Way Forward

In 2025, both Kiều My and Cẩm Giang were honored in the Top 20 Outstanding Female Students in Science and Technology of Vietnam — an award organized by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Ministry of Science & Technology.

Among 180 applications nationwide, the two stood out for their passion and resilience — true “Number 1 flames” representing the spirit of Vietnamese Gen Z.

When Energies Meet: From Young Scientists to Rapper Đen and Millions of Vietnamese

Their journeys echo that of rapper Đen, who spent 15 years persistently building his music career, gradually conquering big stages with passion and perseverance.

Mechanical engineering, technology and music may seem unrelated, yet they all share one message: Dare to dream. Dare to conquer. Keep moving forward to become the Number 1 version of yourself.

When My and Giang stood on the stage receiving their awards, the spotlight did more than illuminate their achievements — it reflected an entire generation of young Vietnamese tirelessly turning their dreams into reality.

From mechanical workshops and computer labs to music stages, they are all working, researching and creating day and night — fueling themselves when needed to surpass their own limits, staying true to their passion and shaping their future.

On this journey, Number 1 continues to accompany millions of young Vietnamese — “Fueling energy, sustaining passion,” encouraging them to dream boldly, conquer challenges and move forward to become their own Number 1.
