5000 People Walk for Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims

The event attracted a diverse crowd, including former State President Nguyen Minh Triet, former Vice President Truong My Hoa, and Karl Van den Bossches, Ambassador of Belgium to Vietnam, alongside officials, soldiers, artists, and local residents.

The event has a profound and practical humanitarian meaning, contributing to spreading awareness about the war legacy and for compassionate hearts to take care of the people who are affected by Agent Orange/Dioxin. In Ho Chi Minh city, more than 30,000 people (according to the statistical registration list) with many generations were affected. The Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ho Chi Minh City and all levels continue to strengthen extensive public promotion and education so that both local people and international friends gain more understanding about the consequences of the war and Agent Orange/dioxin in Vietnam.
Also, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Ho Chi Minh City continues to be proactive, creative, and finds an appropriate mode of operation to provide not only care, rehabilitation support, but also cultural education, foreign languages, life skills training, vocational guidance, vocational training, and employment support. The goal is to change the image of people who are affected by Agent Orange so they can be seen as real workers, positive, confident, and inspiring people of society.
On this occasion, the organizers and accompanying units donated 40 savings books (VND 10 million/ saving book) to households with people who were affected by Agent Orange/dioxin living in difficult circumstances. Other donations include 20 gifts (VND 1 million/gift) and 5 wheelchairs.
