Sahra Nguyen - CEO of Nguyen Coffee Supply.

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Sahra Nguyen always had a special affection for her homeland Vietnam. When she saw the coffee shops where she lived selling Vietnamese iced milk coffee, not using Vietnamese coffee, but using Colombian or Ethiopian beans, Sahra felt it was unfair.

Vietnam is the second largest coffee producer in the world but does not play an important role in the coffee industry estimated at US$25 billion in the US. With that under consideration, she decided to bring Vietnamese coffee to the US, emboldening the position for Vietnamese coffee.

During a business trip in Cambodia, Sahra returned to Vietnam to visit her relatives and let them know that she intends to open a coffee company with raw materials imported directly from Vietnam. Sahra's aunt introduced her to an acquaintance who grows coffee in the highlands of Da Lat.

Sahra decided to use all her savings about US$20,000 to establish Nguyen Coffee Supply in November 2018.

Before founding the company, Sarah was a freelance journalist who wrote and made documentaries about the Asian-American community for news outlets like Vice and NBC News.

When she first invested in the startup model, she still wrote for the newspaper to have money for a year and a half. When the company got better, she put all her energy into the business.

With the coffee business, Sahra realized that coffee was another way to create greater representation of the Asian American community, especially Vietnam. Although she is no longer a journalist, Sahra believes she is continuing to tell stories about the community through coffee.

Currently, her company is the first American enterprise specializing in robusta coffee beans imported directly from Vietnam. Customers can enjoy Sahra's coffee in many different ways such as: traditional Vietnamese iced milk coffee, coffee brewed by machine, or canned coffee.

Nguyen Coffee Supply's products are being sold in all 50 states in the US and are available in countries such as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Singapore, and the United Kingdom.
