Canada: Vietnamese community celebrates traditional Tet
Hundreds of Vietnamese gathered at Toronto Centre of the Arts (Canada) for an early Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration on Jan 8.
This is the first time the Embassy of Vietnam, the Canada - Vietnam Society together with the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the Toronto government jointly organized a Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration for overseas Vietnamese in Canada.
The event featured performances by artists from the Vietnam Youth Theatre. Traditional folk songs and dances along with meaningful plays brought homeland Tet closer to the heart of the audience. The event was also a chance to tighten the bond between Vietnamese living in Canada.
According to Vietnam Ambassador to Canada Nguyen Duc Hoa, the program not only enriches the spiritual and cultural life of overseas Vietnamese during Vietnam's most important traditional festive season of Tet but also tighten the Vietnam-Canada relationship.
