This gift represents more than material support; it reflects the collective environmental efforts of over 3,700 students from six secondary schools in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. These students actively engaged in communication campaigns and took part in the collection and sorting of plastic waste.
The 60 sets of desks and chairs stand as tangible proof of the transformation of plastic waste into valuable resources, in line with the goal of reducing plastic emissions. At the same time, they provide much-needed classroom furniture as the school prepares to welcome an increased number of students in the upcoming academic year.

“This is a tremendously meaningful gift for our school as we anticipate a rise in student enrollment in the new academic year, and now each student will have proper seating. Even more importantly, these are recycled products that contribute to emission reduction and environmental protection. We are committed to using and maintaining them effectively,” shared Trinh Dinh Thao, Principal of Pham Van Hinh Secondary School.
GNI believes that even the smallest actions, from picking up a discarded plastic bottle to using a set of recycled desks and chairs, can drive significant change for both the community and the planet. The project “A New Life for Waste” will continue to be expanded to spread a spirit of responsibility, creativity, and concrete environmental action.
Launched in 2025, “A New Life for Waste - Mot vong doi moi cua rac” is a GNI initiative implemented at Binh Hoa Secondary School (Ho Chi Minh City) and five other secondary schools in Hanoi. It aims to raise awareness among younger generations and encourage them to practice and sustain waste sorting at the source.
