According to the People's Army newspaper, during the program, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, shared that among the millions affected by Agent Orange, only around 626,000 individuals, those who participated in the resistance war and whose children were exposed to toxic chemicals, are currently receiving benefits. Many families have three to four victims, living in illness and poverty, with some pushed to the brink of exhaustion. Mothers and wives continue to silently endure, caring for their loved ones day and night, bearing the weight of endless pain and hardship.
The Organizing Committee issued a heartfelt call to all levels of government, sectors, socio-political organizations, people from all walks of life, overseas Vietnamese, and international friends to strongly respond to the movement “Action for Agent Orange Victims”, launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh emphasized the need for continued cooperation and support from the U.S. Government, international organizations, and global communities to help Vietnam overcome the devastating consequences of toxic chemicals and to support Agent Orange victims.
As part of the program, the Organizing Committee presented Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to supporting Agent Orange victims. The event received generous support from organizations, individuals, television audiences across the country, and international friends, demonstrating a united effort to care for and uplift those affected.
