Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed appreciation for the valuable contributions of Dr. Nguyen Thanh My in connecting the overseas Vietnamese business community in recent years, especially during his tenure as Chairman of BAOOV (2018-2023), as well as his contributions to national development.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the country is undergoing a strong transformation, particularly with the high determination of the Party, the State, and authorities at all levels to implement the goals set out in the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress. She affirmed that strategies for science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation are creating strong momentum across all aspects of life, and expressed hope that the doctor will continue his passion, perseverance, and dedication in applying artificial intelligence to high-tech and smart agriculture.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh My expressed his appreciation for the recognition from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ leadership, sharing his impression of the country’s development achievements in recent years. He voiced strong support for strategic development resolutions such as Resolutions 57, 58, and 69, noting that these have been effectively implemented, helping remove many barriers, particularly in mechanisms and policies. He affirmed that he will continue to implement projects to promote technological development, contributing to the country’s industrialization and modernization, especially in Vietnam’s agricultural sector, while continuing to support and accompany BAOOV’s activities in the coming time.
Nguyen Thanh My was born in Long Tri, Long Duc Commune, Tra Vinh City, Tra Vinh Province. He has lived and worked in Canada since 1979 and returned to Vietnam in 2004 to start his career.

He holds a PhD in Energy and Materials Science and an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. He is an inventor and co-inventor of over 700 patents in the United States, Canada, China, Vietnam, and many other countries.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh My is the founder and co-founder of 14 high-tech enterprises, including six currently operating in Tra Vinh Province such as Mylan Group and RYNAN Holdings JSC. He was named an Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur in 2008 and 2022, and served as a member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front for terms VI, VII, and IX. He was awarded the title “Scientist of Farmers” in 2019. He served as Chairman of the Business Association of Overseas Vietnamese for the 2018-2023 term and is currently its advisor. He is the author of two books: “Nonconformist - Zen in Everyday Life” published in 2025 and “Nonconformist - Think Differently and Act Differently for Sustainability" (tentative titles)
Dr. Nguyen Thanh My has received numerous honors, including the Outstanding Vietnamese Entrepreneur title in 2008; awards from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Industry and Trade in 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2024; Certificates of Merit from the People’s Committee of Tra Vinh Province in multiple years from 2006 to 2012; the Gold Award for innovative technology from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in 2004; the Silver Award for advanced technology from Dainippon Ink and Chemicals (Japan) in 1997; and invention achievement awards from Sun Chemical (United States) in 1995 and 1996.
