Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Australia Friendship Association Ho Chi Minh City Le Truong Hien Hoa stressed that Australia relations are developing very positively, especially after the two countries upgraded their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. This is an important foundation for expanding deep, substantive and long-term cooperation in many fields.
The bilateral relations upgrade has created a solid foundation for the two countries to promote extensive and long-term cooperation, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries, and at the same time making positive contributions to peace, stability and development of the region.
At the local level, Ho Chi Minh City actively promotes cooperation with Australia.
“Ho Chi Minh City has now established friendly and cooperative relations with 5 states of Australia, thereby opening up many favorable opportunities to strengthen exchanges and cooperation more substantively and sustainably in many fields,: said Le Truong Hien Hoa.
The political-foreign relations and economic cooperation continue to be a remarkable bright spot. Two-way trade turnover between Ho Chi Minh City and Australia has reached a significant scale, reflecting the deepening level of cohesion between the two economies. The business communities of the two sides are increasingly affirming their role as "bridges of friendship", contributing to promoting bilateral relations in the direction of stability, long-term and effectiveness.
Regarding the development of bilateral relations, Vietnam and Australia are not only partners, but also friends who have worked together to build trust, respect and cooperation in many fields. The people-to-people exchanges are a sustainable foundation, a "source" that creates a long-term bond between the two countries. The Vietnamese community in Australia and the Australian community in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City, continues to play an important bridge, spreading positive values and deepening the friendship between the two peoples.
On that basis, the Vietnam-Australia Friendship Association Ho Chi Minh City defines the key orientation of future activities with people-to-people exchanges as the foundation; cultural, educational and tourism cooperation as the pillar; youth as the driving force and sustainable development as the core value.

In this orientation, the Vietnam - Australia Friendship Association Ho Chi Minh City will focus on promoting in-depth people-to-people exchange activities, strengthening the participation of youth, students, and families between Vietnam and Australia. The focus will help build the affection, understanding and attachment between the communities of the two countries. It is also important to boost cooperation in the field of education and training, especially academic exchange programs, youth exchanges, experience sharing and enhancing socio-cultural understanding of each country.
In addition, cooperation activities through tourism, cultural exchanges, as well as cooperation for the environment and sustainable development will continue to be promoted, in line with the common priorities and concerns of the two sides.
Speaking at the event, Australian Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City Sarah Hooper, emphasized that Australia and Vietnam currently have a relationship "has never been stronger". The two countries have closely cooperated in the fields of trade-investment, education-training, science-innovation, climate change-energy, defense-security and especially people-to-people exchanges.
Diplomacy is not only about agreements or official visits, said Sarah Hooper, but also about friendship between individuals, organizations and communities. Ho Chi Minh City is an important part of that story, with a dynamic, globally connected community and long-term vision.
