HCDC leader said the city received 56.250 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine doses on April 15 and will give to prioritized groups under the Government’s Resolution 21, Vnexpress reported.

Earlier, at a meeting of the HCMC Steering Committee on Covid-19 Prevention and Control, Director of the Health Department Nguyen Tan Binh said that 42,000 medical workers, 10,000 crew members, and airport security staff, etc will be among the vaccine recipients in the second phase.

The vaccine recipients in the first phase will be also administered the second shots in this phase.

The second phase of the inoculation program is expected to be completed before May 15, in accordance with the Health Ministry’s general plans.

According to HCDC, the above-mentioned vaccine number was correctly transported and received as well as preserved in GSP-qualified cold storage. The storage has a temperature-monitoring system 24/24, ensuring a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh conducted the first phase of the vaccination campaign from March 8 to April 16. As many as 8.569 people including medical workers and those working at centralized quarantine facilities were injected with the vaccine in this phase. Several cases with severe reactions after administration were timely treated and now in stable health conditions.

To date, the Southern Metropolis has reported 239 Covid-19 cases. 19 people have still been under treatment. 5 imported cases were reported on April 15 and all put under quarantine upon arriving in Vietnam.

The vaccine batch used in the ongoing inoculation campaign in Vietnam was sponsored via Covax, arrived in the country on April 1. Ho Chi Minh City was allocated the most vaccine nationwide.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in the Northern region will be distributed a total of 317,550 vaccine doses, in which, CDC Hanoi received 53,350 doses, Hai Duong 43,700 doses, Thanh Hoa 20,200 doses, Nghe An 18,500 doses, Bac Kan 2,000 doses and Lai Chau 2,300.

CDCs in the Central region will receive a total of 68,700 doses, in which, Da Nang 6,300 doses, Thua Thien - Hue 6,200, and Khanh Hoa 6,800.

CDCS in the Central Highlands will receive a total of 49,000 doses, in which Kon Tum 8,400 doses, Dak Nong 9,000 doses, Gia Lai 15,900 doses, and Dak Lak 15,700.

CDCs in the Southern region will receive a total of 245.350 doses, in which Can Tho 6,700 doses, Dong Thap 16,150 doses, and Binh Duong 15,100.

The police force will be allocated 30,000 doses, the army force 80,000 doses, and the National Expanded Program on Immunization 20,000. In addition, 600 doses are used for quality control.

One imported case of COVID-19 was recorded in Vietnam in the 12 hours to 6 am on April 17, raising the infection count to 2,773, the Ministry of Health said.

The new patient, a 25-year-old Chinese man, has been quarantined since his entry into the country via the Huu Nghi Border Gate in northern Lang Son province on April 13.

He is undergoing treatment at the branch in Hanoi’s Dong Anh district of the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

So far, Vietnam has seen 2,475 recoveries from the coronavirus disease, according to the ministry’s Department of Medical Service Administration.

Eleven of those still under treatment have tested negative for the virus once, 16 others twice, and 18 thrice.

There are 40,443 people kept in quarantine nationwide at present.
