Ho Chi Minh's Diplomatic Thought Binds Vietnam-Venezuela Relations

President Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought is the source of friendly relations between Vietnam and Venezuela. Although the two countries are geographically far apart, they share the same core values - that is, the spirit of international solidarity, national independence, freedom, and happiness of the people.

Speaking at the special program “Diplomatic World” of Venezuela’s Radio Mundial on May 17, on the occasion of the 133rd birthday of President Ho Chi Minh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Venezuela Vu Trung My affirmed that Vietnam always values traditional solidarity and friendship with friends and important partners in Latin America, including the Vietnam-Venezuela comprehensive partnership.

Besides views on solidarity in the international communist and workers' movements, President Ho Chi Minh also advocated solidarity with all nations, and progressive and peace-loving forces in the world.

Introducing his great background and career, Ambassador Vu Trung My stated that in the hearts of mankind, President Ho Chi Minh was an outstanding leader, a beloved comrade, a teacher, and a close friend in the hearts of every Vietnamese person. He was also a great and humble man with erudite wisdom, far-reaching vision, and noble ambitions "giving everything for the fatherland, for the people" in the eyes of international friends.

Sharing with listeners of the live radio program in Venezuela and some Latin American countries, Ambassador Vu Trung My said that from patriotism and Vietnamese cultural traditions, with a great treasure of East-West knowledge, his bravery and rich experience through decades of revolutionary activities, President Ho Chi Minh left a unique diplomatic thought for modern Vietnamese diplomacy. That is Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought.

According to the Ambassador, Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought is the foundation for Vietnam to consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversify foreign relations as well as integration into the world.

In particular, Ho Chi Minh's diplomatic thought is also the glue that bind the relationship between Vietnam and Venezuela. During the period of national construction and development, many similarities continue to bind the two countries.

Reviewing the important milestones in the relations between the two countries and the great achievements in the development of bilateral cooperation, Ambassador Vu Trung My said that Vietnam and Venezuela formed relations in 1989 and then established a comprehensive partnership framework in 2007.

The two sides regularly exchange high-level delegations. The late President Hugo Chavez, President Nicolas Maduro, and First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) Diosdado Cabello visited Vietnam.

On the Vietnamese side, former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former President Nguyen Minh Triet visited Venezuela.

The two countries also exchanged visits at different levels. In 2022, Vice Foreign Minister of Venezuela Capaya Rodriguez visited Vietnam and conducted the 9th political consultation session.

The two countries signed cooperation agreements in many fields, and implemented bilateral cooperation projects, especially in agriculture and aquaculture. Vietnam's agricultural research projects in Venezuela achieved good results, developing high-yielding rice varieties, and contributing to ensuring food security for Venezuela.

At the end of the 60-minute program at Radio Mundial - one of the largest radio stations in South America, Ambassador Vu Trung My affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to traditional friendship and solidarity with friends and important partners in Latin America, including the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Venezuela.

The Ambassador said that he will make an effort to contribute to strengthening and promoting relations between the two countries, especially in the context that the two countries are looking forward to the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024.
