Middle East Tensions: Recommendations for Vietnamese in Israel

On the evening of March 16 (local time), the Embassy of Vietnam in Israel sent a notice to Vietnamese citizens living, studying, and working in the country regarding updated civil defense measures issued by the Home Front Command under the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

According to the notice, the new policy is in effect nationwide from 20:00 on March 16 to 20:00 on March 18, with varying levels depending on each area.

Specifically, in many areas in northern and central Israel such as the northern border line, the Golan Heights, Upper Galilee, northern valleys, Haifa Bay, Carmel, Menashe, Wadi Ara, Sharon, the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and its surroundings, Yarkon, Shephelah, Jerusalem, Judean Shephelah, Lachish, central Negev, and Eilat, the “limited activity” level continues to apply.

Under this level, public gatherings are limited to a maximum of 50 people at locations with access to standard shelters within the required time upon warning; educational activities are suspended; workplaces may operate if they ensure access to shelters; and beaches remain closed to the public.

In several other areas such as southern Golan (excluding Katzrin and Kedmat Zvi), Lower and Central Galilee, and parts of Sharon, Jerusalem, Shephelah (excluding Beit Shemesh), and Lachish, the policy has been partially eased. Accordingly, certain educational activities, especially special education, may take place at facilities equipped with standard shelters, in line with guidance from the Israeli Ministry of Education.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Israel recommends that the Vietnamese community continue to closely follow guidance from the Israel Home Front Command, proactively identify the nearest shelters to their residence and workplace, remain calm, comply with local authorities’ regulations, and promptly move to shelters when alerts are issued.
