Northern Vietnam forecasted to brace for torrential rains, flash floods and landslides

Vietnam’s northern provinces have been warned about torrential rains, flash floods and landslides in the coming days.
Tran Quang Nang, head of the Weather Forecast Office of the National Centre for Hydrometeorology Forecasting, said heavy rains will lash northern midland and mountainous localities from August 15-20, with common rainfall from 100-300mm.
The northeastern region will experience rainfall from 200-400mm, even reaching 350-500mm in the coastal province of Quang Ninh.

Other localities in the north will have rainfall from 100-150mm, with rains mainly from August 16-18.

On August 14, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control issued a document, urging cities and provinces to keep a close watch on weather conditions and prepare countermeasures. /.
