The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting has reported that a cold front is currently affecting Northern Vietnam and extending into North Central Vietnam. This system is expected to bring widespread thunderstorms in the coming days, significantly influencing weather conditions during the April 30th and May 1st holidays.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Cham, forecaster at the Weather Forecasting Department, from the night of April 28th to the morning of April 29th, the Northern region will experience extensive showers and thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 20 to 40 mm, with localized areas seeing heavy to very heavy rain exceeding 100 mm.

During these thunderstorms, residents are advised to remain vigilant against hazardous phenomena such as tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind.

From April 29, Northern provinces will turn noticeably cooler, with nighttime and early morning temperatures of 20 - 23°C. From April 30th until the end of the holiday, the area will be mostly dry and sunny. Daytime highs will range from 27 - 30°C at the start of the holiday, rising slightly to 30 - 33°C. On May 3, showers and thunderstorms may return in the late afternoon and evening.

In the North Central region, areas from Thanh Hoa to Hue will also be affected by the cold front beginning April 29, bringing showers, thunderstorms, and locally heavy rainfall exceeding 50 mm. Temperatures will cool, with lows of 21 - 24°C at night and in the morning.

Across Central Vietnam, weather will remain largely stable with little rain and abundant sunshine. In Thanh Hoa and Hue, highs on April 30th and May 1st will reach 28 - 31°C. Other parts of Central Vietnam will see 31 - 34°C, with localized heat waves exceeding 35°C toward the end of the holiday.

In the Central Highlands, conditions will be predominantly sunny during the day, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Daytime highs will range from 30 - 33°C.

Southern Vietnam will continue to experience a prolonged heatwave until April 30, with highs of 35 - 36°C. Temperatures will ease slightly afterward, with only localized heat waves exceeding 35°C. From the evening of April 30 through the holiday, scattered showers and thunderstorms are also expected.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting advises residents and travelers to stay updated with weather reports and take precautions against thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning, and other severe weather phenomena during the holiday period.
