Sri Lankan Ambassador Visits Bac Ninh to Boost People-to-people Exchanges

Welcoming the delegation, Mai Son, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, said the visit would help strengthen political trust, promote people-to-people exchanges, and expand cooperation between Bac Ninh and partners from Sri Lanka.

Mai Son noted that Bac Ninh is a land rich in historical and cultural traditions, and one of the prominent centers of Buddhism in Viet Nam. Its diverse heritage system, including many UNESCO-recognized elements, along with unique cultural values such as Dong Ho folk paintings, provides a strong foundation for developing cultural and spiritual tourism.

Bac Ninh is also a locality with high economic growth, a favorable investment environment, and a high-quality workforce, creating a solid basis for expanding international cooperation, including with Sri Lanka.

Based on similarities in culture, religion, and history - especially shared Buddhist connections - Mai Son expressed his hope to enhance cooperation with Sri Lanka in investment, trade, cultural exchanges, and spiritual tourism development. He also suggested the Ambassador continue serving as a bridge to promote cooperation among agencies, organizations, and businesses of both sides.

Ambassador Poshitha Perera expressed his impression of Bac Ninh’s development achievements, noting that the visit helped the delegation better understand the province’s socio-economic potential as well as its distinctive cultural values, particularly its Buddhist cultural space.

The Ambassador emphasized that Sri Lanka-Viet Nam relations are built on a long-standing foundation, with Buddhism serving as an important bond. Cooperation in Buddhist education and cultural exchanges has achieved many positive results in recent years, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

During the visit, the delegation toured Phat Tich Pagoda and Dong Ho folk painting village to learn about traditional cultural life and the preservation and promotion of local heritage values.
