"Night is when everyone rests, unwinds, and I start my shift,” he said with a gentle smile. Few know that behind that calm expression lies a long battle against exhaustion, drowsiness, and the quiet strain every night guard must conquer through willpower and endurance.

Working the night shift may seem easy, but for those who do it, it is a demanding test of both mind and body. “The night feels long. The clock moves so slowly, as if testing your endurance. The hardest moment is around 3 a.m., when your body wants to collapse but your mind still has to stay sharp,” he shared. Once, he nearly fell asleep in his chair, but when he looked up and noticed a resident’s apartment light still on, he thought, “I’m guarding the peace for someone’s dreams.”

Before becoming a guard, Phuc worked as an air conditioning technician.
