Strengthening Social Foundations through Vietnam-China Border People’s Festival and Youth Red Study Tour

From April 16 to 21, the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, in coordination with the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the People’s Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, jointly organized the program “Vietnam-China Border People’s Festival and Youth Red Study Tour 2026” in Guangxi, China.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Vice President of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, and comprised nearly 120 delegates from central agencies, several academies and universities, and 13 provinces and cities, including seven northern border provinces adjacent to China.

The Vietnam-China Border People’s Festival took place from April 16 to 19 under the theme “Strengthening a solid social foundation, solidarity, cooperation, and joint development.” The opening ceremony was held on the morning of April 17 in Nanning, with the honor of welcoming General Secretary and State President To Lam and his spouse, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, as part of their state visit to China.

Also in attendance were Chen Gang, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People’s Congress of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region; Liu Haixing, Head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China; and more than 300 delegates from central and local levels, border residents, and youth from both countries.

During the festival, a wide range of practical activities were organized, including a border people’s friendship symposium on cross-border tourism cooperation, the development of smart border gates, the promotion of cross-border trade and the application of artificial intelligence, and the enhancement of livelihoods and production development in border areas; as well as cultural and artistic exchanges; visits to the Detian-Ban Gioc waterfall cross-border tourism cooperation zone and the China-ASEAN Artificial Intelligence Innovation Cooperation Center. These activities contributed to enhancing mutual understanding, promoting substantive cooperation, and strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries.

In parallel, the Youth Red Study Tour program was held from April 16 to 21 in the cities of Nanning and Guilin, with the participation of a large number of youth delegates from Vietnam and China.

During the program, they engaged in a wide range of activities focusing on history, culture, bilateral friendship, environmental protection, and emerging technologies. These included youth dialogues on carrying forward the traditional friendship and promoting bilateral relations, as well as cooperation in artificial intelligence. The delegates also visited historical sites associated with Vietnam-China relations and with President Ho Chi Minh during his revolutionary activities in Guangxi. Notable destinations included Nanxishan Hospital, Yucai School (Guangxi Normal University), Guangxi University, and the Memorial House of the Eighth Route Army Office, along with field trips on ecological environmental protection in Guangxi.

Through these activities, the program contributed to educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions and nurturing the “red gene,” while enhancing exchanges, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the youth of the two countries. It thereby helped to further consolidate the social foundation for the stable and long-term development of Vietnam-China relations.
