Ambassador Marc Knapper Highlights Vietnam’s Active Role in Strengthening Bilateral Relations
	Ambassador Marc Knapper: 2025 Marks Meaningful Milestones in Vietnam-US Relations

The Friendship Order is a prestigious award of the Vietnamese State, bestowed on foreign individuals and collectives that have made significant and sustained contributions to building, strengthening and developing friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and countries around the world.

The presentation of the Friendship Order to Ambassador Marc Knapper reflects the appreciation and recognition of the leaders and people of Vietnam for the Ambassador’s role, efforts and notable imprint during his term of office in Vietnam, especially in the context of the continuously elevated and increasingly substantive bilateral relationship.

After the award ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung received Ambassador Marc Knapper on the occasion of the Ambassador concluding his term of office in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated Ambassador Marc Knapper on the successful completion of his tenure, and highly valued the Ambassador’s important contributions to promoting Vietnam-US relations in an increasingly extensive, effective and substantive manner across many fields, particularly the upgrading of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in September 2023.

The Minister affirmed that, with his active role and deep attachment to Vietnam, Ambassador Marc Knapper had helped create strong momentum for bilateral relations, especially in the fields of political and diplomatic relations, economy and trade, defense and security, education and training, science and technology, humanitarian cooperation, and addressing war legacy issues.

Emphasizing that Vietnam always attaches importance to and prioritizes the development of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with the US, Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated the close and effective coordination between the US Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam in implementing high-level agreements as well as specific cooperation programs, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

The leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs suggested that both sides continue close coordination and effectively implement the contents agreed upon by the senior leaders of the two countries, on the basis of respect for each country’s independence, sovereignty and interests, thereby making positive contributions to peace, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

Expressing sincere thanks for the warm reception by the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam, Ambassador Marc Knapper respectfully acknowledged the effective cooperation and support of Vietnamese agencies, ministries and sectors throughout his four-year tenure in Vietnam.

The Ambassador affirmed his pride in contributing to the strong development of Vietnam-US relations, especially the historic milestone of upgrading bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, thereby strengthening political trust, expanding trade and enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation in many fields such as defense and security, humanitarian work, addressing war legacy issues, energy, science and technology.

Ambassador Marc Knapper reaffirmed that, in whatever position he may hold in the future, he will always be a friend of Vietnam, continuing to support and accompany the sustainable and positive development of Vietnam-US relations.
