Vietnam’s 81st National Day Celebrated in Malaysia

On August 20, the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia solemnly held a ceremony to mark the 81st anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945-September 2, 2026).

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh recalled the historic milestone of September 2, 1945, at Ba Dinh Square, when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and opening a new chapter in the nation’s history.
After 81 years marked by numerous challenges, Vietnam today has become a peaceful, dynamic and confident country that is deeply integrated with the region and the world.
The Ambassador affirmed that Vietnam is entering a new stage of development, driven by a strong aspiration to build a prosperous nation by mid-century. Science, technology, innovation and human resources will play a core role in the country’s development.
Vietnam continues to pursue an independent and self-reliant foreign policy, while diversifying and multilateralizing its relations and serving as a friend, a trusted partner and a responsible member of the international community.
Regarding bilateral relations, Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh emphasized that Malaysia is a particularly important partner of Vietnam. The two sides highly value their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which continues to strengthen political trust and mutual understanding.
Over the past year, bilateral cooperation has continued to develop strongly across a wide range of areas, from trade, investment and defense-security to agriculture, education, culture and tourism, as well as parliamentary exchanges.

The Ambassador also expressed appreciation for Malaysia’s leadership during its 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship, affirming Vietnam’s commitment to working closely with Malaysia to build a united, resilient and people-centered ASEAN Community.
Quoting the meaningful Malaysian proverb “Bukit sama didaki, lurah sama dituruni” (“Climbing the hill together, descending the valley together”), the Ambassador expressed his confidence that the two countries would work together to seize opportunities and overcome all challenges in the future.
Sharing the solemn yet warm atmosphere of the ceremony, members of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia expressed deep emotion and pride at the country’s remarkable development.
The commemorative ceremony took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, leaving a positive impression on international friends of a peaceful, resilient Vietnam with strong aspirations for the future.
