The Vice President emphasized that throughout Vietnam’s history, the nation has produced many outstanding heroes and intellectuals who have played an important role in its development. Over the past nearly 80 years, under the leadership of the Party, Vietnam has built a strong and capable intellectual force.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan welcomed the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union’s initiative in organizing the 6th Global Forum for Young Vietnamese Intellectuals in 2025, a special occasion as the country is implementing the two-tier local government model, preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2, and the Party is executing major resolutions in preparation for the 14th National Party Congress with the goal of ushering the country into a new era of development.

Through its previous editions, the Forum has not only inspired a sense of responsibility, love for the homeland, and a desire to contribute among young intellectuals, reflecting the aspiration to “stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents” as cherished by President Ho Chi Minh, but has also created a platform to connect young intellectuals globally, spread the spirit of innovation, and contribute positively to the country's development.
The Vice President noted that during her working trips abroad, leaders of many countries have recognized and expressed appreciation for Vietnamese intellectuals, particularly international students and Vietnamese professionals. This is a clear testament to the capability, courage, and patriotism of young Vietnamese intellectuals, both at home and abroad.
Providing an overview of the current global, regional, and domestic contexts, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan stated that the Party, State, and the people are making significant efforts to implement major policy decisions, including the restructuring of administrative units, redrawing administrative boundaries, and operating the two-tier local government model. Notably, the Party Central Committee has issued four key resolutions: Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW, and Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW. These interrelated resolutions must be studied comprehensively and coherently to realize the goal of becoming a developed, high-income nation by 2045, when Vietnam marks the 100th anniversary of the country's founding.
Emphasizing the role of young intellectuals, the Vice President called on them, as the country's elite human resources, to continue promoting national pride and patriotism, defining their mission, responsibility, and honor in contributing to national construction in the new context and entering a new era. Young intellectuals must grasp the trends of the times, be politically astute both domestically and internationally, set personal goals and aspirations, and connect their research with real-life applications to ensure substantial and effective contributions.
Addressing major challenges currently facing Vietnam’s socio-economic landscape, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized the need for young intellectuals to focus their research on key areas such as the development of transportation infrastructure, information technology, agricultural product processing industries, biotechnology, and building a national brand for Vietnamese rice. Other priorities include improving the physical and intellectual capacity of the Vietnamese people, developing the cultural industry and high-value-added services such as finance and logistics, as well as proactively adapting to natural disasters and climate change, particularly in vulnerable regions like Central Vietnam and the Mekong Delta.

The Vice President called on the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee to continue maintaining and developing the Forum as a platform for connecting young intellectuals, creating an environment for exchange and sharing, and promoting creativity and innovation to contribute to national development. In addition, she urged relevant ministries and agencies to work together to propose talent-attracting policies in line with the directions of General Secretary To Lam. Specifically, by August, ministries and agencies are expected to propose breakthrough policies to initially attract 100 overseas Vietnamese experts to return and work in the country, laying the foundation for a long-term strategy to attract and develop intellectual resources through 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The Vice President noted that sharing and connecting do not diminish knowledge but rather enrich it, enhancing Vietnam's intellectual wealth and building strength for national development in the knowledge economy era. She expressed confidence that, with patriotism, determination, courage, and intelligence, young Vietnamese intellectuals will continue to reach new heights and make practical contributions to fast and sustainable development, uphold the socialist orientation, and affirm Vietnam’s position on the global stage.
Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and President of the Viet Nam Youth Federation, affirmed that the Youth Union will work closely with ministries, localities, and domestic and international partners to strengthen its role in connecting, supporting, and creating opportunities for young Vietnamese intellectuals to realize their full potential and contribute more effectively to the nation’s cause.
Over its five previous editions, the Global Forum for Young Vietnamese Intellectuals has attracted more than 1,000 participants from inside and outside the country, contributing to various programs and policies related to the development of young Vietnamese talent. The 6th Global Forum for Young Vietnamese Intellectuals in 2025, themed “Global young Vietnamese intellectuals contribute to the nation’s advancement into a new era”, took place from July 19 to 21 in Hanoi. The event aims to concretize the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. |
