According to Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Huong Nam, as of July 2025, there were 27,237 Vietnamese living in the Netherlands. Residing in cities such as Almere, Purmerend, Hoorn, Harlingen, Leeuwarden, and Spijkenisse, this community constitutes about 0.15% of the Dutch population. The majority have obtained citizenship, live stable lives, are well integrated into the host society, and actively maintain ties with their homeland. The community’s emphasis on education is highly appreciated by Dutch society.

Since the early 2000s, the number of Vietnamese pursuing doctoral, master's, and undergraduate studies in the Netherlands has increased, focusing on fields such as scientific research, high technology, software development, and logistics. Community organizations have made notable progress, including the establishment of the Vietnamese Association in the Netherlands (October 2022), the Vietnamese Women’s Association in the Netherlands (January 2023), the Vietnam Women's Union in the Netherlands, and the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals in Science and Technology in the Netherlands (2007). Vietnamese language classes and the Truong Sa Club have also been actively operating.

During the meeting, representatives of Vietnamese community organizations in the Netherlands reported on their activities and made several recommendations to the Party, the State, and the Government regarding economic development policies, science and technology, and support for overseas Vietnamese.

Community representatives expressed gratitude to the Party, the State, the Government, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy, for their continuous support in protecting the rights and interests of overseas Vietnamese. They expressed joy over the country’s recent achievements and rising international status, closely following developments at home and expressing a desire to contribute to the nation's new era. At the same time, they expressed wishes for more favorable conditions regarding nationality procedures, business and online payment regulations, financial support and training in online Vietnamese language teaching, and the opportunity to host performing arts delegations from Vietnam to promote cultural activities abroad.

Speaking at the gathering, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception from the community. She praised their proactive engagement in community building, cultural and language preservation, charitable activities to support compatriots affected by natural disasters, and campaigns in support of Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty, especially the Truong Sa Islands.

The Deputy Minister also shared with the overseas Vietnamese the purpose, significance, and outcomes of the delegation’s visit to the Netherlands, as well as updates on Vietnam’s socioeconomic development and foreign policy, including its friendship and cooperation with the Netherlands.
