Ho Tan Hung, President of the provincial Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association, said the association has implemented many practical activities to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. It regularly organizes external relations reception activities, diplomatic visits, and sends congratulatory messages and letters on major holidays of RoK through the Consulate General of the RoK in Ho Chi Minh City. The association has also coordinated the organization of various cultural and exchange events such as Viet Nam-RoK trade promotion fairs, photo exhibitions, film weeks, and cultural exchange programs. These activities help foster friendly cooperation between the peoples of the two countries while promoting the image, people, and culture of Viet Nam.

Work related to overseas Vietnamese in line with Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW dated March 26, 2004 of the Politburo has also been given attention. Through various forms of connection, the provincial Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association encourages overseas Vietnamese studying, working, and living in the RoK to turn toward their homeland, participate in economic development investment, and transfer science and technology, contributing to the development of An Giang. The association maintains and develops relations with the Consulate General of the RoK in Ho Chi Minh City, expands its network with international partners, non-governmental organizations, businesses, and social and charitable organizations to mobilize resources for local socio-economic development. Many humanitarian and charity activities, as well as community development projects, have been implemented to support outstanding students and disadvantaged people in the province, thereby improving living conditions and strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries.

External information and communication work is also emphasized. Through various channels, the association introduces international friends to information about Viet Nam, its people, the guidelines and policies of the Party and the State, as well as the achievements of the renovation process. At the same time, it connects with overseas Vietnamese in Korea to provide updates on national and An Giang’s development, creating conditions for them to visit their homeland and contribute to local development.

The provincial Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association also serves as a bridge to promote cooperation in economics, science, technology, engineering, and the environment between businesses and educational institutions in An Giang and Korean partners. Cultural and culinary exchange programs and Viet Nam-RoK trade fairs are organized to showcase the cultural, historical, and human values of the two countries. The association works with universities, vocational schools, professional associations, and businesses in Korea to organize thematic talks on “Multicultural Integration,” provide scholarships, and introduce vocational training and employment programs for high school students, university students, and young people.

According to Ho Tan Hung, in the coming time, the provincial Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association will continue to implement people-to-people diplomacy activities in line with Directive No. 12-CT/TW dated January 5, 2022 of the Secretariat on strengthening Party leadership and improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new context. It will closely follow the province’s socio-economic development goals and the action program of the Provincial Party Committee to implement the resolution of the first Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. The association will continue to consolidate, expand, and deepen Viet Nam-RoK friendly and cooperative relations; seek support from the Consulate General of the RoK in Ho Chi Minh City and other resources in terms of capital and technology to promote industrialization, modernize production, improve product quality, protect the environment, and respond to climate change. “The provincial Viet Nam-RoK Friendship Association will continue to make efforts, remain proactive and creative in its activities, promote its role in people-to-people diplomacy, contribute to building comprehensive diplomacy between the peoples of the two countries, maintain a peaceful and stable environment, and mobilize external resources for local socio-economic development,” he said.
