Vietnam Welcomes 12.23 Million International Visitors in 7 Months

Favorable visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion campaigns, and celebrations of major national holidays have contributed to a growing number of international tourists visiting Vietnam.

According to a report by the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), in July alone, Vietnam received 1.56 million international arrivals, up 6.8% from the previous month and up 35.7% compared to the same period last year. In total, the first seven months of 2025 saw 12.23 million international visitors to Vietnam, marking a 22.5% increase over the same period last year.

Of these, 10.4 million arrivals were by air, accounting for 85.1% of the total and increasing by 23.8% year-on-year; 1.6 million arrivals were by land, accounting for 13.4% and up 15.8%; and 183,900 arrivals were by sea, accounting for 1.5% and up 11.1%.

Leaders of the General Statistics Office noted that favorable visa and e-visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion programs, and festive activities celebrating national holidays have increasingly attracted international tourists to Vietnam. The most searched destinations include Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang - cities known for their rich tourism ecosystems, diverse accommodations, and vibrant entertainment options.

The report also stated that positive growth in trade and tourism activities contributed to a 9.3% increase in total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenues in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Specifically, accommodation and food service revenue rose by 15%, and travel and tourism revenue increased by 20%.

In particular, accommodation and food service revenue in the first seven months of 2025 was estimated at VND 481.9 trillion, up 15% compared to the same period last year. Revenue growth compared to the same period last year in several localities was as follows: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 19.7%; Da Nang by 18.6%; Can Tho by 14.8%; Hanoi by 12%; and Hai Phong by 11%.

Meanwhile, travel and tourism revenue in the first seven months of 2025 was estimated at VND 52.8 trillion, up 20% year-on-year. Revenue growth compared to the same period last year in several localities was as follows: Dong Nai increased by 31.5%; Lao Cai by 28.4%; Ho Chi Minh City by 23.4%; Hue by 22.6%; and Hanoi by 18.8%.
