Notably, China and the Republic of Korea remained the two largest source markets, accounting for nearly 50% of total international arrivals to Vietnam. China currently ranks first with over 3.89 million visitors (25.2%), followed by the Republic of Korea with more than 3.23 million visitors (21%).
Among Vietnam’s top 10 source markets are also Taiwan (China) with 926,400 visitors, the United States with 622,500, and Japan with 617,700. Particularly, India has emerged as Vietnam’s sixth-largest source market with 504,600 visitors, surpassing Cambodia (489,800).
Of the total number of international arrivals to Vietnam, 84.5% traveled by air, 15.3% by land, and 0.2% by sea.
After nine months, the Russian market recorded the highest growth rate, up 273% year-on-year, making Russia Vietnam’s eighth-largest source market with 435,100 visitors.
European markets witnessed strong growth, with Russia continuing to expand rapidly (up 173.0%). Other key European markets also performed well, including France (up 22.6%), the United Kingdom (up 21.7%), and Germany (up 17.5%), along with Poland (up 46.0%), Italy (up 22.3%), Norway (up 19.8%), the Netherlands (up 18.3%), Belgium (up 17.9%), Sweden (up 17.0%), and Switzerland (up 15.8%).
Experts attribute this growth to the positive impact of Vietnam’s visa exemption policy and the effective implementation of tourism promotion and marketing campaigns across Europe by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as well as localities and businesses.
According to the General Statistics Office, tourism and travel revenue in the first nine months of 2025 was estimated at VND 69.6 trillion, a 20.5% increase compared to the same period last year. This achievement was driven by nationwide tourism promotion efforts from the beginning of the year, along with strong coordination among localities to launch stimulus programs and develop new tourism products attracting both domestic and international travelers.
Several localities recorded significant increases in tourism revenue during the nine-month period of 2025 compared to the same period last year, including Ho Chi Minh City (up 24.3%), Hanoi (up 21.9%), Quang Ninh (up 20.2%), and Da Nang (up 13.2%).
