Vietnamese and Korean Businesses Meet and Exchange Experience

On May 17-18, the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam to organize the “Meet Korea 2023” program.

This is the 8th time that “Meet Korea” program is held, with the participation of nearly 500 attendants. The program continues to attract a lot of attention from Vietnamese and Korean businesses and localities, creating a platform to connect, exchange, and share experiences and seek cooperation opportunities in many fields.

The program was attended on the Vietnamese side, by Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Anh Tuan, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, representatives of central committees, ministries and branches, leaders and representatives of provinces/cities in the Northern key economic region.

On the Korean side, there was Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Oh Young Ju, leaders of Korean agencies, associations and businesses in Vietnam such as: Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA); Korean Chamber of Business in Vietnam (KOCHAM), etc.

Delivering an opening speech, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his delight at the remarkable developments in the Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations and affirmed that the two countries' relations are in a very well-developed stage.

The upgrade of relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership is a historic milestone, opening a new, stronger and more substantive development period for both sides. Vietnam and Korea have become each other's leading partners in many fields. Cooperation in economy, trade and investment is a pillar and a driving force for cooperation between the two countries.

Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu affirmed that with the motto "taking the people, localities and businesses as the center," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to promote its role as a bridge to support provinces/cities across the country to connect with international partners.

The Ministry will set a priority to promoting the "pioneering role" in mobilizing external resources, linking with internal resources to serve the country's socio-economic development.

Speaking at the program, Nguyen Huong Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province said that “Meet Korea 2023” is an important investment and trade promotion activity, opening a good opportunity for businesses and investors to exchange, connect and cooperate with Bac Ninh province as well as other provinces/cities in the Northern region.

She expected that the strength and experience in technology, finance, international market network, and business administration skills of Korean enterprises will be combined with the advantages of Vietnamese localities to bring great and practical benefits to both sides.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province believed that the program will open a new stage of good development for the strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea and the development cooperation between Bac Ninh and provinces and cities in the Northern region of Vietnam with Korean localities, agencies, organizations and enterprises.

Speaking at the program, Korean Ambassador Oh Young Ju emphasized two special meanings of “Meet Korea 2023”.

Firstly, it was attended by more than 150 Vietnamese and Korean businesses and agencies despite the effects of the global economic recession that officially started this year. Notably, some enterprises located in Seoul, Korea also participated even though they do not open office or branch in Vietnam yet. Secondly, this is the first conference held after the two countries upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

In the first exchange session on expanding investment and promoting cooperation in supply chains and production chains, representatives of Vietnamese localities shared about cooperation with Korean partners, introduced the prioritized projects calling for investment from the Korean side.

On cooperation for sustainable economic development, the representatives of Vietnamese localities discussed the situation of investment from Korea in some localities that only focus on the electronic manufacturing sector in the second session

Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu assessed that the program was very successful with diverse, enthusiastic and profound exchanges of participants on the areas of mutual interest. He hoped that this year, the two sides would have a lot of sharing, connection, cooperation for mutual development as well as support for realizing Vietnam's sustainable development goals.

On the sidelines of the conference, there was a Vietnam-Korea typical product exhibition with more than 20 booths from Vietnamese localities and Korean businesses, attracting great attention from participants.
