In recent years, Vietnam's State issued policies to bring factories out of residential areas, creating opportunities for Hanoian to come up with creative public spaces for the community. Building Complex 01 used to be the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour'sPrinting Factory in the 1960s, which was then renovated into a multifunctional space while preserving its slogans, background decoration, and structures. Currently, Complex 01 is becoming a meeting point for young people because of its friendly harmonious architecture between the nostalgia and young vibe, an open space imprinted with culture and history.

The artist will stage famous pieces, including “Hello Vietnam” and “Bohemien Rhapsody”, along with some Vietnamese pieces such as “Mùa xuân đầu tiên”, (The first spring) and “Người Hà Nội”, (The Hanoians), according to VOV.

The concert is being organized by the “For A Livable Hanoi” Coalition with the aim of enriching the cultural life of people in the capital.

Mr. Le Quang Binh, coordinator of the “For A Livable Hanoi” network said the concert was a creative idea to enrich the cultural life of the people living in the capital. Hanoi needs plenty of open spaces for artists, young people, and social activists to meet, exchange, and develop fresh ideas, and this concert provides a good chance for those activities to take place, he added.

“The transformation of old factories into creative public spaces will provide critical infrastructure for the cultural industry. I hope that the people, investors, and the city government will support the transformation," said Binh.

Participating in the program, conductor Dong Quang Vinh said he enjoyed the idea of performing in a renovated space from the old factory. “The performance space here helps to bring the music closer to the audience. In that space, we will recall a struggling time, commemorate the familiar workers in each person's family. This is a contemporary approach, like the way concerts in foreign countries are often held. Hanoi Voices Choir consists of members from many different countries, working in many different industries but all share a love toward Hanoi. Participating in this activity will definitely help them better understand, have deeper affection, and bond with Hanoi,” the conductor shared.

The event will enjoy the participation of members of the Diversity Choir and Hanoi Voices Choir, which includes many locals and foreigners living and working in Vietnam.

Diversity Choir was originally established by the Institute for Studies of Society, Economy and Environment (iSEE) in November 2018, and is made up of the elderly, children, people with disabilities, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT), and ethnic minority people, all of whom share a passion for music and human values.

Hanoi Voices is an international choir comprised of both local and expat singers. The choir was first founded in 2016 with the vision of creating a semi-professional choir made up of members who either have musical experience or musical education.
