According to figures from the 500-Day Campaign, the search for and recovery of martyrs’ remains has continued to achieve significant results. A total of 2,803 sets of martyrs’ remains have been recovered, including 1,773 in Viet Nam, 174 in Laos and 856 in Cambodia. In particular, 634 sets of martyrs’ remains were recovered from Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to figures from the 500-Day Campaign, the search for and recovery of martyrs’ remains has continued to achieve significant results.

During the search, the authorities discovered five mass graves of martyrs in Tuyen Quang. The remains were recovered from various locations, including areas that had once been fierce battlefields.

Currently, 32 search and recovery teams, comprising 1,588 personnel, are carrying out their missions. Of these, 13 teams are operating domestically, while 19 teams are working overseas, including eight teams in Laos and 11 in Cambodia.

Alongside the search and recovery efforts, localities and relevant forces have held 18 memorial and burial ceremonies and received 893 sets of martyrs’ remains for burial in accordance with regulations.

An important task of the 500-Day Campaign is to collect samples from martyrs’ remains for forensic examination and identification. As of September 23, samples had been collected from 199,908 martyrs’ graves, reaching 94.78% of the target.

Of these, 139,016 graves were eligible for sample collection, accounting for 69.35%, while 60,892 graves were not yet eligible for sampling. A total of 29 out of 34 provinces and centrally run cities have completed sample collection, including all four provinces and cities under Military Region 1; all six provinces and cities under Military Region 2; all four provinces and cities under Military Region 3; all five provinces and cities under Military Region 4; all five provinces and cities under Military Region 5; and all four provinces and cities under Military Region 7. The remaining localities are the five provinces and cities under Military Region 9.

To carry out this substantial workload, 264 sampling teams, with approximately 3,500 personnel, have been mobilized. For martyrs’ relatives, the authorities have collected 265,761 samples, of which 71,102 have been analyzed and 66,909 synchronized with the database.

The reception, storage and preservation of samples of martyrs’ remains have also been carried out simultaneously. A total of 99,443 samples of martyrs’ remains from localities have been received. Of these, the Military Forensic Institute received 43,315 samples from all 17 of the 17 relevant provinces and cities. The Institute has examined 259 samples, including 50 for which genetic sequencing results have been obtained.

The clearance of bombs, mines and explosive remnants of war has been conducted in parallel with the search for and recovery of martyrs’ remains, particularly in areas where fighting once took place.

As of September 23, the authorities had cleared 15,615.78 out of 22,725 hectares, reaching 70.66%. Notably, in the core area of Vi Xuyen, Tuyen Quang, 4,395.6 out of 4,460 hectares had been cleared, equivalent to 98.56%.

A total of 360 clearance teams have been mobilized, using 1,311 detectors and other equipment, with 5,183 personnel participating in the operation.

These results show that the 500-Day Campaign is being implemented simultaneously across multiple fronts: searching for and recovering martyrs’ remains; collecting samples, conducting forensic examinations and building a database to support identification; and clearing bombs, mines and explosive remnants of war to expand the areas available for search operations.
