Eight Additional Remains of Fallen Soldiers Discovered at Le Thi Rieng Park

According to the Martyr Remains Recovery Team of the Ho Chi Minh City High Command, on October 3, forces continued to expand the search area in Zone B of Le Thi Rieng Park.

Over 550 cubic meters of soil were processed during the day. The Ho Chi Minh City High Command mobilized three excavators, one dump truck, and two 3.5-ton trucks to handle excavation and soil transport, ensuring the search remained on schedule.
As a result, the task force discovered and recovered the remains of eight additional martyrs.

From June 23 to the end of October 3, a total of 713 sets of remains of fallen soldiers were discovered and recovered at Le Thi Rieng Park; of these, 304 were accompanied by personal artifacts.
Of the total, 680 sets were discovered and recovered individually. The remaining 33 sets were found at eight mass grave sites, two in Zone A and six in Zone B.

Upon discovery, the remains were transported to a designated holding area, where samples were collected for subsequent processing.
Search and recovery operations at Le Thi Rieng Park are ongoing, with Zone B currently serving as the focal point for concentrating personnel and equipment to expand the search area.
From June 15 to August 12, 2026, the “500-day campaign” hotline received 39,600 phone calls, including more than 13,000 phone calls made by martyrs’ relatives who demanded to search for graves and around 1,800 phone calls to provide information about martyrs’ burial places. |
On August 24, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City said it had carried out a range of practical activities to support officers, soldiers and residents in border and island areas. The city has mobilised significant social resources to improve living and training conditions, while providing encouragement and strengthening the morale of forces stationed and performing duties along the nation’s borders and at sea. |
